“A lovely relaxing stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

Ginny and Theo are such friendly hosts and gave us a lovely, warm welcome as did Millie, their long haired Jack Russell. Breakfasts prepared by Theo included home grown tomatoes and their free range eggs were delicious. Pelorus Heights is a lovely location to relax.

We couldn't have asked for better hosts or accommodation! Ginny and Theo are delightful and nothing was a bother. The accommodation was clean, bright, spacious and very comfortable. LOVED it and want to go back!

After travelling 4 weeks through Southisland we stayed 2 nights with Ginny and Theo. Pelorus Homestay was one of the best accommodation. We enjoyed having space in our rooms and around the house. Everything is tastfully and comfortably furnished. The view over the valley is just marvellous. At night we watched all the stars on the sky. Our hosts showed us restaurants to eat dinner and helped to plan our tramping for the next day. We got a good breakfast. Unfortunately the weather wasn't nice and so we couldn't eat outsite. If we ever will return to New Zealand, Pelorus is worth to stay again.

On a wet, windy day we wound our way up the drive to Pelorus Homestay and found what was like another world. Ginny and Theo gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our delightful room. We relaxed in the lounge and looked at the amazing views before eating a delicious meal of fresh fish with our hosts. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to explore so hopefully it will be next time! Thank you for Ginny and Theo making us so welcome in your beautiful home.

We planned to to use this home for our overnight pit stop from Wellington on our way to Christchurch. We stayed for two nights. We wish we had more time to explore the area and enjoy the home environment. We were welcome with warmth and joy by Ginny & Theo. They gave us their home grown vegetable and strawberries. We cooked our dinner on their outdoor BBQ and they took us out on their fishing boat for the day. It was one of the highlight of our 3 weeks holiday in NZ! My husband and 6 year old son loved the endless bays and marvelous fishing . We highly recommend this for family or couples who wish to stay in the area for a real Kiwi experience. I loved the house for spacious area where my kid can run around and the little touch Ginny & Theo put everywhere. We definitely will return!

Room Tip: The sofa bed is ideal for a kid.

Very friendly hosts.

Lots of space - there are 4 rooms (not very big but still)! Very comfortable and relaxing, if you have nothing against staying at the countryside this is the place.

Very well worth its price!

Good breakfast can be included in the stay.

This is a most welcoming B&B.
Don't be put off by the roadside sign and the very steep gravel track that seems to lead to nowhere.
Bite the bullet and take the track. What you find at the top is a most wonderful accomodation with very friendly and helpful hosts.
We found the accomodation to be excellent. The views from the site are absolutely stunning.
If you do visit make sure you explore the albeit short track through their own bush adjacent to the property full of beautiful tree ferns. Just two minutes from the house and you could be in total wilderness.
If you like fishing be sure to ask your hosts when booking and take an extra day there as Theo has his own boat and, if asked, would gladly take you on a sea fishing expedition.
Unfortunately we only had a short stay so could not take advantage of this offer. Maybe next time.
If you wish to eat out--- the Slip inn in Havelock serves excellent food, especially Friday night which is STEAK NIGHT. Two wonderful fillet steak dinners cooked to perfection for only $20! An absolute bargain.PS forgot to mention their little dog who loves to do pirouettes for you.
