Gisella is definitely the host you can wish for when booking this kind of holidays... the room was clean and welcoming, Gisella gave her all the good restaurants where to go in the region, she draw us a map so no need of GPS you can’t get lost! Her domain is in middle of the countryside and the homemade breakfast is delicious! Definitely to recommend if you want to relax and enjoy Sicily!

1. Location

Although the property is located in a quiet, rural area away from the tourist hordes and traffic, it only takes 10 minutes by car to reach many beaches nearby. Quaint, narrow, rural roads lead to what appears to be a fortified farmhouse. There is no light pollution- one can stop on a shoulder of a rural road, turn off the lights and watch an incredible black sky filled with stars. One word - relaxation.

2. Accommodations

Excellently maintained property, restored from ruins by the owners themselves. The rooms are simple but welcoming, functional, and immaculately clean. One can tell that a lot of love and hard work went into restoring this historical farm. A very large, clean pool sits in the back, surrounded by magnificent old trees. Every night when we came back from our daily adventures, we would lie down on lounges around the pool and quietly talk while admiring the nature and the skies.

3. Breakfast

Excellent breakfast with fresh local breads that Gizella gets from a bakery early in the morning. Gizella would make fresh omelettes and cuts local melons for breakfast along with magnificent local ricotta (with her grandfather's honey), pastries, local sausages, and coffee.

4. Hosts

Gizella's recommendations for local sights and especially local restaurants were absolutely spot on. She is welcoming and very hardworking to ensure her guests are comfortable. She speaks great English so there was never any communication problems.

We highly recommend La Muraglia as a quiet, relaxing, welcoming, and comfortable place to stay near wonderful beaches and a short drive to other historic towns. Thanks, Gizella!

La Muraglia is the perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy Sicily and relax at the same time. We spent two weeks here and our stay was perfect, always with plenty of privacy as we like; the second week was very hot and we would not have enjoyed it had it not been for the swimming pool outside and the air conditioning in our room. It is situated in a very convenient position for visiting many points of interest, especially the Baroque towns of Noto, Scicli, Ragusa Ibla, Modica and the castle of Donnafugata.

Gisella is a great host; she is always available to help visitors and very discreet. She gave us helpful tips on the roads to use, as well as restaurants to visit, which we really enjoyed. The rooms are comfortable and breakfasts are scrumptious, with many locally sourced products and gluten-free options.

The outdoor kitchen is easily accessible and very important if you don't feel like going out for dinner every night.

La Muraglia is Sicily for us.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect. Gisella is a wonderful host, and very gracious. She sat down with us the morning after we had arrived and explained all the highlights of the local area and drew us a map. She stayed up until 2am to let us in when our flight was delayed and was very welcoming. The breakfasts are wonderful. The pool is beautiful and clean, and surrounded by trees that are full of birds that serenade you while you swim. We loved our stay, and were sad to leave!

In breathtaking rural surroundings, overlooking the Mediterranean, Gisella's small scale guest house La Muraglia offers wonderful residence. Large, cool, atmospheric rooms in a classic farmhouse. At central court breakfast and diner from the common outdoor kitchen can be enjoyed. Don't forget Gisella's frittata (fried eggs) in the morning. Consult her for your travel scheme as well. Access roads to Ragusa nearby. Fine pool surrounded by olive and lemontrees, plenty of privacy. Nearby: have dinner af Al Bufale, mozzarrella and buffalo steak at a nearby farm. Fresh fish available at 20 mins in Donnalucata.

No bathtubs though.
