We had a really beautiful room at the Sands - it was spacious, well laid out, and felt modern and comfortable. It was a perk to have a washer and dryer in our room! The grounds are kept very well at the Sands, and they have a beautiful pools and waterways all throughout the property. The beach is also beautiful with great options for beach activities (paddle board, catamarans, snorkeling, etc.). The beach was not overcrowded - we were able to get chairs and an umbrella each time we tried. The hotel also has a service to setup excursions on your behalf which was nice so we didn't feel like we were being taken advantage of. We also thoroughly enjoyed Hemingway's, the onsite restaurant. It had a great vibe both indoors and outdoors and had good food! Overall, we had a great stay, and would stay again at the Sands.

Everything was fantastic at this hotel. The staff (most of them) are very helpful and pleasant, especially Ira at the pool. They will respond to your room's needs, advice on restaurants and booking tours.
Room - We enjoyed a room over looking the pool and beach. Everything was perfect about the room. Large, clean, comfortable, AC, cleaned daily and a small well equipped kitchen. The hotel is more for couples rather than families. Beaches down the road is more for families.
Beach - Divine! Clean, soft sand, clear water, not crowded.

Tips: Take the ferry to North Caicos, rent a car and explore North and Middle Caicos. Visit the fish fry event for great music, food and rum punch. Book the snorkel and conch tour.

Having been to many Caribbean islands, I have liked many, but Turks and Caicos I love. The Sands is part of the reason. Maybe others like things differently than I do, but this place is perfect for me. Location is up the beach, away from the 3000 guest Beaches. Nothing much on either side of the hotel, so there is about 1/2 mile of gorgeous beach. Friendly, helpful staff to set up beach chairs. The condo was 1 BR, very well equipped. The decor was pretty, not artsy or loud. Bed was fine. We were garden view, but stretching our necks saw the ocean from the patio. The patio was large, screened, comfy. It really added to the living space, we ate meals at the patio table. The hotel bikes are fine for short rides. Hemming ways is good, and the place next door is great. Front desk is helpful.

We stayed here for 8 days and it was FANTASTIC. The room we had was spacious and had a little mini fridge, sink, microwave and utensils, so we were able to take our backpacks and the free loaner bikes from the hotel to go to the nearby grocery store and get stuff for breakfast, lunches and drinks which helped to keep costs for food lower. It also has a washer and dryer which is so great to have!

Pay the extra to get the Studio Garden View so that you can get a screened in porch. The studio courtyard is not as nice, and doesn't have a private sitting area.

The restaurant at the hotel has great food and we ate there on a few nights. You can also walk to quite a few other restaurants which are nice options. The beach is amazing, and during the time of year we went (August), there weren't that many people there so we didn't have trouble getting a chair. It might be different if you go during busier times of the year.

Room tip: Make sure to get at least a Studio Garden View

This is a decent hotel with a very nice location. Close to all the restaurants and next to food shopping center. The hotel offers free bicycles to roam around the area or go shopping. Don't expect any luxury service here, our place was cleaned on daily basis and beds very big and comfortable. Beach is one of the best in the Caribbean's. However the hotel doesn't offer any activity what so ever. Its pretty boring and dull, esp at night. I guess for the price you can't go wrong.

Dear alanroytbak,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent review regarding your stay at The Sands at Grace Bay. Is it only through feedback such as yours that we are able to maintain and indeed, where necessary, improve the service we provide to our valued guests.

We are happy to know that you found the resort conveniently located, and that you were able to take advantage of our complimentary bicycles. We are a classic Caribbean style resort and we offer the amenities of a four start resort. Majority of our suites come with king sized bed and we just recently updated our beddings in half the resort and will be completed with the remaining soon.

You are indeed correct our beach is one the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean by far and rated #1 in the Caribbean.

We were truly saddened that you found our resort lackluster but we do offer numerous activities such as complimentary paddle boarding, ocean Hobie cats, snorkeling gear, tennis court/ basketball court, beach volleyball, and board games from the front desk. If night life is what you are looking for, there are 2 casinos on island, both offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the resorts/hotels.

We hope you enjoyed your stay in Turks and Caicos, and hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back.

Yours Sincerely,
Priscila Cordero Rodriguez
Night Manager
