Stayed here for four nights in august of 2014 with my wife for my 40th birthday. We had an awesome stay. It is very centrally located. You can borrow a bicycle to ride to the grocery store and can walk just about anywhere along the beach very easily. Staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. The rum punch in the lobby is great! Already planning a trip for next year.

This was my 2nd stay at the Sands. I was very happy with 1st stay, room was very nice. Not so much this time. Shortly after checking in on 1-10-15 we called front desk and asked for the manger to request a change of room. We were told the Manger was unavailable and they would get back to us regarding our request. Three additional calls to front desk went unreturned. We had multiple issues with the room, very dated and poorly maintained, mattress was sagging in middle, noise from adjoining room was loud and AC didn't work for most of the week. Will no longer be recommending the Sands.

We enjoyed 9 nights at the Sands. We had our own apartment /condo type set-up. The buildings are only three stories high so its actually not a huge property. Our housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the room in order. So you got a condo stay with hotel amenities.
The hotel also included all the water toys for free to play with at the beach. that was great. but actually playing in the sand was fine too!!! perfectly located to access the attractions and features of Grace Bay. We rented a vehicle but you probably would be fine without one. Our family of six oldest kid 14 down to 7 really enjoyed the resort.
It wasn't crowded and it wasn't over run with too many families that made it hard to relax and enjoy.The service around the beach and pool could have been better. Its actually the only negative thing I can say about our stay. And its probably the reason i am giving our rating a 4 instead of a 5.
The grounds and pool are well kept. The property is very clean. As for our room. At first i thought i was going to be disappointed by staying in building one. Farthest from the beach. But we got a full view of the beach with no obstructions in our way!!!! It was amazing. We stayed in room 1304 - two bedroom condo with a full view of beach. 1305 and 1306 have the same views as well!!!
We had to walk up two flights of stairs but we did not mind at all. The view was worth it. But if the stairs matter to you, make sure to request ground level.
The restaurant on the property, Hemmingway's, was good. The service and food were very good. It wasn't the best restaurant on the island but i have nothing negative to say about it.
Overall we would stay again at Sands as the resort was well maintained and perfect for our family.
Just got back from The Sands at Grace Bay. The grounds were beautiful! The pool and all over the hotel itself was very clean.We stayed in the garden view room it was clean large and had a wonderful screened in balcony that over looked the hotel grounds and we could see the ocean. Room had med frig,dishes and microwave.Every staff member was very friendly. We ate at the Hemmingways restaurant and the food was all very good $$-$$$.recommend the steak and club sandwich. I would highly recommend renting a car to explore the island, go to the Price club grocery store(cheapest groceries) and to go shopping or to other restaurants.Taxis are crazy high.Go to the Caicos bakery (5 mins)we would eat lunch there(Quiches,fruit tartars or jello donuts and water) for under 20.00 for 3 adults. We have been to many islands and this one stood out to us because we found the locals originals or transplants to be so friendly. We we escorted 4 times by locals that saw we were looking lost,even from the airport to our hotel? Turks and Cacois has the lowest crime rate of all the islands.We felt completely safe at all times. We didn't see any real poverty.They don't even have an island jail,criminals are shipped to Jamaican. Grace Bay beach was clean and the water was a beautiful clear blue. It had more surf then I expected but not to much. I would recommend Coral gardens for snorkeling. Recommend going to the Thursday fish fry on the island music,food and vendors selling things. Avoid Miami airport at all cost!!
My husband and I just returned from turks and caicos and a stay at the sands. we were not pleased at all. The front desk staff is just plain unwelcoming and unfriendly,and not helpful.The first room we had was on the third floor(walkup) and was just barely acceptable for the price we paid, definitaley not four stars, maybe 2. The mold smell was overpowering and I have allergies so I became very congested, and had to open the terrace and front door to air it out everyday. The dresser drawers were broken and there was a man trying to fix it when we arrived, but didnt.the closet rack was put in incorrectly so that if you hung your clothes, the door wouldnt close. The safe is tiny and way up on a shelf in the closet so that you had to stand on a chair to reach inside it. The bathroon was plain, no soap dish in the shower.The maid did not refill the coffee or sweetners, you had to call to the front desk to get them. Their is only 1 ice machine on the property so that if you are in the last building you have to walk over to get some.The chair on the terrace was broken so that you sunk down in it and was uncomfortabe and there was a palm tree blocking the so called oceanview. we changed our room after 3 days and the new one had a great view but kitchenette stuck in the corner with furniture in front of it so difficult to use. so much for the rooms. Hemingways is way overpriced, i knew food or restaurants are expensive there but the portions were miniscule compared to other local restaurants. The local cabs have on price-10 dollars even to go 4 blocks. luckily we chose a restaurant nearby, went by taxi and then found out we could walk there easily. so much for hotel staff being helpful! shays is saltmill nearby was normal prices for breakfast compared to hemingways 12 dollars for fruit and yogurt! we are not complainers, we had travelled alot to other islands with hotels, timeshares, all inclusives and this was the worst. we checked out other resorts nearby and big improvement. Also another reviewer mentioned the beach chair problem. the sign clearly says if unoccupied for 30 minutes its considered abandoned.NOWAY! people and STAFF for tips putting towels on chairs at 6am to reserve them and then they dont show up until much later. of course, for the right tip the beach staff will put up an unbrella for you later on.cant complain about the weather, water and pool, though you need to upgrade the old lounge pads and have drink service more available. if you do go be aware, if your room is by the hottub you listen to partying late at night, if your room is by the restaurant you listen to loud music, if your room is in bldg 3(largest) the maids and other staff talk to each other in the walkways really loud all morning and afternoon, so forget about a nap. we wanted to relax in quiet, read, sleep. forget it.wi fi in and out had to use it in the lobby mostly.also, the door to the adjoining apartment would make it feel like your neighbors were in your room.
It's been five months since our trip for my 30th birthday when we visited Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Five months too long if you ask me. It is funny how below 30 degree temperatures can make you wish you were on a beach wearing nothing but a bikini, taking in the sun, and enjoying a cocktail or two. Quite frankly, I'm tired of bundling up, and layering clothing. Instead of sloshing around in the cold, wet snow, I'd rather frolic on Grace Bay Beach that was conveniently located steps away from our room at The Sands at Grace Bay.
Upon our arrival at The Sands at Grace Bay, we were first greeted by friendly staff with a complimentary beverage, rum punch. The hospitality didn't end there. In fact, throughout our stay, we encountered the same hospitality and friendliness from the staff at +The Sands at Grace Bay just as we did on check-in day.
The Rooms
The Sands at Grace Bay is a beautiful, 4-star, 114 room luxury resort that has courtyard, garden, and ocean view suites or studios, which are housed in six, three-story buildings. Like its name states, the resort is conveniently located on the 5 miles of the 12 mile long Grace Bay Beach, which is one of the world’s most top-rated beaches due to its soft white sand, and clear turquoise waters.
During our stay, we had a modest one bedroom studio that was equipped with a queen-sized bed, kitchenette with a microwave, dinnerware, cutlery and a small sink. It was kept immaculately clean by the staff at The Sands at Grace Bay. Our room had views of the tropical foliage of the central garden courtyard that surrounded two free-standing wading pools, which was not only beautiful during the day, but, even more so, and romantic during the evening hours.
Unfortunately, during our stay, the resort was pretty booked so we had to keep our studio, which had an adjoining room that was divided by a locked door. Needless to say, we heard everything our neighbors did. Everything. Our next visit, we’d definitely try and get a different room. Thankfully, most of our time was spent outside of the room.
If you're wondering about the bathrooms, they were simple. The shower stall is cut out from the picture, but, it was a standard walk-in shower. The bathroom was kept clean, and the toiletries were re-stocked daily.
Not only is The Sands at Grace Bay conveniently located on Grace Bay beach, it was just a few minutes’ walk to downtown shops and restaurants. Both my husband and I love it when a vacation spot is walkable and safe. Providenciales, and The Sands at Grace Bay offered both. This is why every morning we walked to what turned out to be one of our favorite breakfast spots, Shay Café, which I mentioned in my previous post about our trip. And later on in the day for lunch, we frequented Big Al’s Island Burger. We were also able to walk to one of the popular spots, Mr. Groupers, where we once had lunch.
We spent a lot of time on the beach. I think I mentioned that in my initial post. When I say lots of time, we were on the beach first thing in the mornings, in the afternoon, and at times, we'd even walk the beach at night to catch the sun setting.
