Review of SriLankan Airlines

Not a good fan of Srilankan Airlines even though I am SriLankan. Very poor service from Ground staff. Not flexible and always trying to scrape the last cent from the travelers. In flight services are high quality as used to be. Baggage services, Checking in and Boarding always messy. 7/10 to cabin crew and 2/10 for ground staff and services. They measuring and charging you high prices if you have more than 10 KG in your hand luggage even though its from duty free shops. Its like 22 USD per Kg.. not recommended if you have recent weight of baggages.

Well trained and efficient staff greet you as you start your journey. Interior of aircraft is well done and comfortable. Good entertainment and simple menu are the accompaniments in the flight. Punctual and smooth flight experience adds to the relaxed journey. Lounge facilities at Colombo are good but crowded. We had only one rough experience of unending security ques while boarding for our return flight to Bangalore at colombo with coach transfer. Other wise I can safely say that Srilankan reinvented themselves into a small but wonderful airlines.

During our last day in the Maldives one of our party injured her foot and when we got to CMB we asked if there was a possibility of getting a seat with extra legroom we were informed that all the seats with extra legroom were taken. They arranged for her to go the medical centre for some treatment which was good. When we eventually boarded the flight the plane was half empty but other passengers had arranged themselves in all the rows that could have been given to her so she could have put her leg up. Not wanting to cause a fuss she endured a very uncomfortable journey. Service and food again were very average.

On time flight with adequate leg room in economy. Very average food as we were expecting a lot more from this national airline. Friendly crew but once the meal service was complete they seem to disappear so if you wanted a glass of water you had to get it yourself. Inflight entertainment was limited compared to some other airlines bearing in mind it’s the same on both out bound and return flights.

Full house. Excellent flight. Smooth checking-in. Courteous ground and cabin staff. A good meal service. Good selection of entertainment to suit many. Smooth flight despite few turbulences. Arrived at destination well ahead of schedule. Keep it up Srilankan!
