“Great Service”
Review of Virgin Atlantic Airways

Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

SEA-LHR in "upper class." Service was superb and highly attentive. Highlights: willingness to pour a sample of wine before a full glass; constant beverage refills; making tumhe bed before it was time to sleep; conversational, happy crew.

Food and menu great! Soup delicious, as was a tomato and mozzarella salad. Entree, a prawn risotto, also yummy. Cheese plate nice. Breakfast card had full range of options from sausage and eggs to healthier fare.

Cabin is sleek and cool, and the on-board bar is a nice feature that adds some roominess near the lavatories. But the main seats need work: they were very narrow for business class, barely reclined, had to be flipped over into bed mode by a flight attendant (making it hard to recline amd relax) and had barely any storage, even for small items like a pair of glasses.

Overall, though, a nice experience.

Took the VS42. Was upgraded through miles from Economy to Premium. Virgin Atlantic's premium offering is definitely worth it if it's under £250. The crew were very welcoming and attentive. Food was served quickly and was tasty. The food on the way back from the US is never as good as it is on the way out and you don't get as many added extra like you do on the outbound. I assume that's because it's a night flight. The IFE selection was great with plenty to watch on a big, responsive screen. Luggage came out reasonably quickly. Always recommend Virgin, never had a bad flight with them and I've flown a lot.

We booked Virgin Upper Class for our flights to Delhi as we were told it included a chauffeur service to and from the airport. Unfortunately this is not automatic and depends which ‘Upper Class tier’ you book. Had I known this I would have flown BA as usual.
The business class seats were the smallest I have ever experienced, very limited storage space and the most complicated system of turning them into a bed. The quality and choice of food was way below what I feel one is entitled to expect.

The lounge at Heathrow was very good but the one at Delhi, which is a shared lounge, was very poor.

The choice of food on the flight was extremely limited and not particularly good. On this particular route if you don’t happen to like spicy food then there was only one alternative, chicken! The wines were ok, but there is no Rose, and the champagne one of the cheap brands, and frankly tastes like it.

Needless to say we will not be flying Virgin again.

Straightforward check in, staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. Upon boarding we were offered a drink followed by bar service. The meals were served with proper cutlery, food was quite tasty. Film choice was okay but limited. Seats were comfortable, a blanket and cushion were available if needed. I returned on an overnight flight and felt the airline compared well with BA, the cabin lights were properly dimmed allowing the chance of sleep. Breakfast was fresh fruit and yoghurt, welcome and refreshing after a long flight. I tend to fly BA but will look at Virgin in future.

As always a nice smooth flight with a half decent meal and good entertainment only let down by the 55 minute wait to pick up our suitcases after the first cases arrived on the carrousel. We were traveling premium economy and the cases should have been some of the first off the plane, instead we were one of a group of three couples still waiting when everyone else had picked up their cases and departed the arrival area and two of the three couples were travelling premium economy which included our selves.
