“First rate service”
Review of Japan Airlines (JAL)

Reviewed 5 weeks ago via mobile

Flew Japan Airlines from San Diego to Tokyo and Shanghai. The service from check-in to landing was first rate. The 787-8 SkySuite for the San Diego/Tokyo legs are really roomy in economy class. The seat was extra wide and there was plenty of leg room to spare. The flight attendants were very attentive and polite, even reminding the people in front of you to put the seats upright during meal service. The Tokyo/Shanghai legs used older 787-8 models and the seats were noticeably more narrow with less leg room, but the service was still on par with the other leg of the trip. The only concerns I had were the cabin being a little warm and the seat pad wearing down after a couple hours in. On a 10+ hour flight that can become a little uncomfortable. Other than that I enjoyed my flights and would highly recommend flying with JAL.

Often take JAL for domestic travel in Japan! They provide free WiFi service during the flight and complimentary drink on the flight! The soup is the best choice for the complimentary drinks ! JAL never fails me for their service!

Super roomy on the Dreamliner! Everything was fantastic, and the 'a la carte' dining was just great. Highly recommend their ramen which was just delightful.

The only knock (and it's a minor one), the amenities kit was a bit sub-standard compared to what was offered on Malaysia Airlines.

Probably the last time I'd ever fly Business, but I would have no hesitation flying JAL in Economy.

Have flown Prenium Economy with a number of airlines. JAL had so much leg room that I had trouble reaching the foot rest in front. This was one of the new aircraft with the shell seats that slide forward when recline not back onto the person behind. Brilliant trip. Food good to eat, staff pleasant and toilets very clean throught whole trip.

With their mechanical trouble, a flight got 1hour and 30mins delay, and it was notified only 2 hours prior to the departure; not only that, because of missing the connection, they had to find a flight to SFO, which was failed.

The ground staff had no idea and ended up helping her looking up on sky scanner, no way to compensate any of the loss, basically paid me 15000yen to change my connection flight after the arrival to SFO, and made up all the story after all also told me f**k off.

So they are good at not delayed, but once they do, they have no idea what to do, and no compensation, then gets mean, hopeless.
