“Overseas trip”
Review of Emirates

Reviewed February 26, 2019 via mobile

Just returned from an overseas trip to the UK and Iceland.
Flew the main legs with Emirates, Brisbane to Edinburgh and return Heathrow to Brisbane.
Staff on board were great, offered us better seating on in air, flight was full.
The staff could see that my wife was not really comfortable so were very quick to provide a change of seat.
On the return flight there were vacant in front of us, we asked if we could move, no problems.

This was our third flight with Emirates. Twice before in Business class (Seattle to Prague with overnight in Dubai).
This time it was a combination of Business from Seattle to Dubai and after overnight in the terminal hotel in DXB we continued on A380 First class to Prague.
As a First class ticket holders, we went a night before flight to Prague to the First class lounge. If we liked Business class lounge in DXB before, we loved amenities and services in the First class lounge.
Great served dinner, very well stocked huge cigar shop.
In the morning a quick refreshments at the lounge and then to the A380!
There was only 5 passengers in the 16 pods First class. They greet you as they know your name, assist with "nesting" in your pod. My wife and I had row 1 in the middle.
Beverage services and meals exquisite, caviar with blinis, 2000 Dom Perignon brut and other good dishes.
What was the highlight of the flight was taking shower flying over Mosul at 40,000 feet. Why to take a shower? Because you can!
A380 is a magnificent aircraft (soon to be extinct!).
If you will ever have a chance to fly First class with Emirates on A380, just do it, you will not regret.

As they say...the best company in the world. I personally love to fly Emirates. The fact that I can choose my meal (vegetarian) and the kindness of the staff. Every thing is great...from the confort to the ICE entertainment on board.

Emirates used to be a leader in its quality of service, but it has taken a slip towards the budget end of the market. You now have to pay to choose seat, and it's not even guaranteed you'll get it. They can, and do, change it. The food has deteriorated in quality and portion size, Where once you would be offered a small bottle of wine with your meal you now get miserly splash from a half-full bottle doled out unceremoniously by a crew member, and the flight costs have leapt as fuel prices have dropped.
They also, cheekily, contact you a few days before your flight to offer you a paid upgrade to business class, at a price that more or less equates to the normal business price, but which excludes the use of the business lounge and the free transport to the airport,so could fairly be called a downgrade.
Their 'rewards' scheme cannot be called generous. As soon as you approach reaching the next level your points expire.
I have on more than one occasion had luggage severely damaged and found Emirates extremely reluctant to compensate. It can literally take months.
I am looking for an alternative for my next flight

We opted for this flight as we wanted a daytime flight to Dubai. Flight was ready to go at the right time but it was then delayed for a short while as the airport was very busy. The aircraft was an A380 so we had lots of leg room and comfortable seats. The meals were good as far as aircraft food goes. Same goes for the drinks with the meals (white wine was warm when served). The only downside was the lack of anyone bringing around any drink (water/orange juice) between the meals. You could get them if you asked or collected them yourself.
