“Heathrow to Miami”
Review of British Airways

Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We flew with BA on a 747 (jumbo) to Miami. Firstly the departure, this was on time and without incident. The plane, unfortunately was an old, tired and well used one. It felt tatty, small barely viewable screens, but as we were travelling on world traveler plus there was plenty of room. The cabin crew were brilliant, constantly bring drinks, there was a choice on the menu for diner and the food was good.
The only let down was the plane which either needs a new interior or to be retired.

Easy relaxing flight, food not bad, free bubbly .. service good, you can now order in coach and business class (if you don’t want a meal) Marks and Spencer’s food, sandwiches, even Marks Pies, tapas etc.

A380 plane. Personally, I find the reverse seat configuration awkward. If you are on the window you have to climb over the person's legs/feet on the aisle, so it is a bit of an encounter for both parties, and would not work for an older person by the window. Comparing it to AF 380 forward configuration which is preferable. Food pretty good, attendants very nice but only a B+, again, compared to AF. However, AF doesn't fly west coast to London, so there is not much of a choice. Lot's of overhead. On time. Good check in experience. They try. Which is noticed and appreciated.

This was a very crowded flight which stretched the crew to the limit and also the catering given that if like me you were sat at the back of the Club cabin your choice became no choice, you ate what was left, or nothing. The experience started badly with their ghastly lounge at Lisbon airport, a shockingly dull, cramped, run down place with the appeal of railway station waiting room and where humanity had flocked from faraway destinations in a faint hope to gain some rest, with the end result of looking vaguely like a refugee encampment. A wholly forgettable experience on the whole.

Both the outgoing and incoming flights were almost on time. This has to be a bit unique based on the number of BA return flights I have been on in the last five or six years.
