“O.K Flight.”
Review of British Airways

Reviewed 3 weeks ago

All our long haul trips for the last 10 years have been to Asia during which time we have not used BA so our recent flight to Chicago was an opportunity to see how they stack up against the competition. We paid around £100 to secure the seats we wanted,a 2 at the rear of the aircraft where the configuration changes from 3-4-3 to 2-4-2 which gives a little more space.I was actually surprised BA are still flying Boeing 747’s.After take off we were offered a drink plus a choice of wine to accompany lunch. There’s no indication of what drinks are available,it seems to be a question of asking for what you want and hoping they’ve got it.The food was ok,there’s no menu so it was just a case of making a choice from the 2 dishes on offer as the trolley came round. The cabin crew were very good, regularly offering water and juice throughout the flight as well as ice cream and a sandwich option prior to landing. The entertainment system was also very good with a fairly large screen and good choice of programming. The seats were comfortable enough for an 8 hour day flight when sleep wasn’t a priority but for anything much longer it would be a different matter.Overall the plus points were the cabin crew and the entertainment system on board but as a total product BA are some way behind.

The outward flight was a bit of a mish mash with odd sorts of food coming out during the flight - no announcements on this either.
On the return a proper meal was served, drinks also and better service by cabin crew who had to cope with a full flight as opposed to a half full on the way out

Can't believe they're still using those ageing 747s. On top of the dated equipment (screens the size of a smartphone) the aircraft was so dirty it felt disgusting just to sit there. As usual, the flight left and arrived late.

This flight was my second on the Dreamliner, but first on this route. Often we travel to USA on really old and worn out 747’s so this was a pleasant change. This plane looked pretty new and it was great to see the addition of new bedding from the White Company. The new seats in premium economy are much more comfortable and the TV screen is so much bigger and better. Love the way the window can be made darker depending on day or night. However I had the sun the whole journey so it doesn’t go completely dark. Overall the service and food was good, great step forward now time to get rid of the uneconomical 747’s in the fleet.

They overbooked the flight, so downgraded my ticket, didn't offer any help at the airport to get the refund arranged for me and just flippantly said to get in touch with customer services. Raised a case online then spent nealy a month waiting for no reply or refund then 1.5 hours on hold about 7 times seaping to 4 different departments and Ill await the refund within 10 days. Wish me luck.
