“Great flight with great stop in Bangkok”
Review of Bangkok Airways

Reviewed November 17, 2017 via mobile

We took a plane from Chiag Mai to Sukhotai with a stop in Bangkok. We were surprised to see that there was a lounge in Bangkok for Bangkok Airways-travelers only. With free food and drinks. That made up for the cost which wasn't high but wasn't low as well.

Friendly staff, refills and OK-food on the plane.

We also had an issue where we booked with the wrong name, we sent an email which wasnt answered in time but the office at the airport compesated this by changing the name free of charge.

Would book again!

First time flyer on Bangkok Airlines. Check in was good. I needed assistance boarding due to medical condition and on 2 different flights the airline boarded first class passengers BEFORE those people requiring extra assistance; handicapped, people with children, etc. Planes appeared on the older side with worn carpets and so on. In cabin service was OK and nothing special at all. On time performance. Overall impression: Average. Still trying to figure out how and why they bill themselves as The Boutique Airline!!!!!!

As a first experience, and speaking from a service and ex-airline professional point of view, Bangkok Airways delighted me - simple, easy courteous service all throughout. Truly boutique service, I would say - hence their tagline "Asia's boutique airline". Both my flights were slightly delayed but they were handled well and the crew were great - all seemed really happy to work for this airline. Nice surprise, indeed !

This was my second time flying Bangkok Airways. Checking in and boarding are straightforward both straight forward. Since most domestic flights leaving Bangkok go out of Don Mueang, the security lines for domestic flights at Suvarnabhumi Airport are short relative to international departures. I walked in the airport, checked in, and was thru security in under 15 minutes (however I don't suggest showing up 15 minutes prior to departure).
At Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airways has a lounge area available to all passengers. They also have a loung exclusively for passengers flying Blue Ribbon. When I was there they had small sandwiches and snack type food such as cookies and chips, all for free of course. Understandably it's not to the standard of what you would find in a business or first class of larger airlines but it is a much nicer place to sit and wait for your flight than the gate.
The flight itself from Bangkok to Koh Samui was good. I appreciated being served a meal even if the flight was only 1 hour. Some of the Airbus aircraft that Bangkok Airways operates seem a bit older but that might just give that impression due to slightly faded paint from the hot tropical sun. The flight to Samui was on an A319 and the return flight was an ATR 72-600.
