“Terrible experience”
Review of Air VIA [no longer operating] - CLOSED

Reviewed August 17, 2017

I booked a flight to Denver, CO from Branson, MO 2 months ahead of time on Via Airlines to attend a once-in-a-lifetime event. The flight VC2001 was scheduled to leave at 8:00 am on Friday, August 11, 2017. It was delayed until 12:30 pm, then cancelled at 2:15 pm, which left me no alternative except to pay triple fare to fly out of Springfield/Branson airport. The flight was cancelled too late to give me any options except to fly through Atlanta and arrive at 1:00 am on Saturday morning. I will never trust this airline for a once in a lifetime event. Wish I had read the bad reviews before I booked the trip.

In all of our flying experience, Via Air has been absolutely the worst!
On a return flight from Houston to Branson, we arrived at Hobby airport one hour early. Being that Hobby airport is a small airport, and we had no luggage to check, we thought that was sufficient. When we arrived, there was another passenger at the ticket counter of Via Air trying to make numerous calls to get someone to come to check him in. He needed to be at a funeral the next morning. The airport announced over the intercom that a Via representative was needed at ticket counter but no one ever showed up. Finally, this gentleman called Via Air directly and was told that the flight was already closed and they could do nothing about it. We also tried calling Via Air and were told the same thing. So, there the three of us were, stranded in the Houston airport, with our plane outside, not leaving for an hour. Via Air showed absolutely no concern. The other gentleman was going to be forced to drive through the night to make it to the funeral as it was impossible, at that point, to get another flight. We had to spend an extra night in Houston and pay $1,000 for last minute tickets to Springfield. This was absolutely unnecessary but because of a lack of professional care on the part of Via Air for their passengers, we had no other choice. Via Air also said there would be no refund. We will never even consider flying with them again. With this sort of concern for their passengers, we can only imagine how they care for the airplanes that they fly.

Delayed then canceled after we were on the plane and charged us for parking and the cash for checked bag.Plus we called to cancel our motel and was not able do we had to pay 360.00 there to. They said it's not their policy to pay. So missed our hospital appointments in Houston, lost a whole day, lost 390.00. Have to reschedule hospital and drive and pay for motel that maybe we get to stay in at least. They will not act as they even care.

Would never recommend this airline!!
We showed up for our flight an hour before departure & there was no one at the Via counter. The airport intercom called for a Via representative, and no one showed up. Another passenger called Via to tell them that we were waiting to get on the flight, and they said the flight was already closed because we were not there 2 hours ahead of time. By the time we spoke to someone on the phone, we explained that it was still more than a half an hour before the flight departed. They still would not let us on the flight! The lady at Via customer service would not budge and did not act like she cared one way or the other. So, we spent an additional $1,000 to book a flight home the next day on a different airline.
Poor! Poor! Poor!! Will never, ever use them again!!

They are late or cancel the flights more than they are on time. I flew in May and was 3 hours late getting to Chicago. My granddaughter flew from Chicago to Branson in August and was 2 1/2 hours late. Then on her flight home, we waited 2 hours for the plane and then her flight home was cancelled due to a maintenance problem and we had to wait 2 days till the next flight. Her rescheduled flight was only 10 minutes late leaving, but it was the first flight of the day. I have friends here that had to change to an airline in Springfield, which is a lot more expensive, because they cancelled their flight 2 days in a row. Not a good record of on time flights at all.
