WOW.This was our first cruise of any type. We started our cruise with a 2-day extension in Amsterdam at the Movenpick Hotel. A short tram ride just outside of the hotel or a 12 minute walk gets you to the Central Train station, where you can connect to trams to go throughout the city.Over the two days we went on the included walking tour, took a canal boat cruise, saw the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, and the Rembrandt house. Overnight on the Lofn to the Kinderdijk windmills.Next day is the Koln walking tour. Next day Braubach and a short bus ride to Marksburg Castle, then sailing down the Rhine and some spectacular scenery and numerous castles, docking in Rudesheim. Next day Heidelberg then on to Speyer. Next day dock in Kehl then bus to Strasbourg. Next day dock in Breisach bus to Colmar in the morning and the Black forest in the afternoon.Next day dock in Basel and the end of the cruise.Everyone one the Lofn crew was outstanding. But then 2-day extension in Lucerne. Our hotel was the Radisson Blu. Over the 2 days, a walking tour of the city, a tour to Stanserhorn and a tour to Pilatus. Just an awesome vacation.

This was our first river cruise. We were both very skeptical considering what several of friends were saying about how old the passengers were. We were both pleasantly surprised when we boarded that we were much more middle of the road, we are 59 and 61 as a point of

The only word that comes to mind when trying to describe this experience is INCREDIBLE. We took the Amsterdam to Basel trip and we couldn’t have been more impressed with Viking. We arrived in Amsterdam 2 days early and explored the city by foot and hired a private boat tour

We were on the Basel to Amsterdam Rhine River cruise. Viking does a great job, a well run operation. We could not ask for better food or service, everything was top notch. Our cabin was on the third deck, with a veranda. We wondered whether we should get the veranda and we

The river cruise gods smiled on us: perfect weather and perfect water levels from Amsterdam to Basel. River cruise cabins are small, but we had ample storage. Having a balcony made the room seem larger. We did not use the balcony often because we were usually off the ship, but
