This was my fourth cruise and third on Carnival. My wife has been 9 cruises total. This was our first time out of Charleston. Embarkation was a breeze compared to Miami and Fort Lauderdale. I was impressed how efficiently things were handled with check-in at one building, getting bused to the terminal, going through security and getting on board and straight to our rooms. AMAZING!
This was our first balcony and I don't believe we'll ever go back to an inside cabin. We appreciated the extra space and the scenery! The rooms definitely do show their age. The carpet was worn, stained, and frayed around some of the edges specifically the doorways. There was rust on the ceiling around the fire sprinkler head, the walls were scuffed up a bit, the cabinet and closet door hinges were a little off kilter, and the water pressure was poor due to a broken shower head that was not taken care of even after I reported it. All of that said, it didn't take away from us enjoying the room.
Dining was good, however I had the Australian Wagyu Beef in the steakhouse the first night and I wasn't impressed. I had better steaks the following mornings with my eggs at brunch. In the Dining room I highly suggest requesting Pranee! She was attentive and made sure we were using our Cheers package :) If you do request her be prepared to dance and don't be a stick in the mud! Also, if you do get her make sure you tell her that Jerry, Maggie, Shaun, and Sharon say hello and send much love her way! She's truly an amazing server and I hope Carnival recognizes her ability!!!
Many of the reviews I read prior to this cruise talked about how crowded this ship gets. I honestly didn't feel crowded at all. It was easy to get deck chairs and the shows were never full.
The shows and music that I watched were very good. I enjoyed the Studio VIP show quite a bit. Compared to other shows I've seen on cruises this one was well produced and it had some very talented people. It's been my past experience that the shows were poorly produced, they were corny, and there were few talented performers.
Overall this was a good trip! The crew works hard and I believe they're understaffed, but they smile when your smile :)

We did the 4 night 5 day out of Charleston for our daughter high school graduation gift. As a family of 5 (ages 13, 18 and 21 for children) we needed a room to sleep 5 instead of trying to book 2 rooms. The Captains suite was amazing! We were treated like VIPs as well which was
