A convenience store? Um.....there won't be one, it's a desert island.

There is likely to be a 'shop' which will sell souvenirs, tan lotions and sarongs at about three times what you would expect to pay here but no wine and beers, you have to purchase them from the bars on the island, that is the only way you can consume alcohol.

Without wishing to sound patronising, you might want to read up about the islands infrastructure as once on your island you are generally mercy of their bars/restaurants etc, there are no other options or nearby supermarkets etc.

Hi

Have not been to this particular island but have been to others and I doubt if the gift shop sells alcohol. Normally alcohol is only available from the bar, restaurant or mini bar in your room.

Crisps and chocolate may be available to buy there but are usually very expensive and I find they taste a bit odd. Have given up buying snacks from the gift shop and generally I buy some in the Duty Free here and keep in the fridge in my room.

I imagine you know that you cannot bring alcohol into the Maldives but you can bring your own crisps/chocolate if you wish.

You can buy small cans on beer in some of the shops on the islands, but not wine. There will typically be a small selection of Pringles, Mars bars, Twix, Haribo, biscuits etc but all over-priced!

I meant 'of' beer!

Best bet is to message someone who's just got back from Iru and written a review and ask them what's available as islands vary.

Yes as Xarla said above, you can choose from a small assortment of sweeties, crisps, ciggies etc but I can't recall there being any alcohol . Best stock up on the chocs, sweeties before you arrive.

Hello Charlie

Irufushi does not have a convenience store as we know it.

There is a shop which sells souvenirs, gifts, expensive clothes, postcards and a very small selection of sweets/chocolates. Expect to pay in the region of $2 for a Mars bar.

The shop does not sell alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks - they are only available from the bars, mini bar or your own suitcase (non alcoholic). The seaplane terminal has a small shop which sells coke at around $3 per 330ml bottle - sounds expensive, but definitely worth stocking up before you get onboard as cheaper than the island.

Thanks

Richard from PurelyMaldives
