Discovery Bay by Rex Resorts

Hi me and hubby are thinking of staying here in May, can someone tell me does this hotel provide beach/pool towels and are there plenty of sun loungers and shade at this hotel ?

Tropical - our west coast beaches in Holetown area were restored - big time - last summer - talked to guests at Discovery Bay this morning - and they are astonished at the huge beach they now have - the beach outside our condos is big too - (when we left Apr. of 2013 - t he sea was getting into our front garden - Not anymore!!!)

now wide lovely beach outside - so no probs. with width of Discovery Bay beach - and the submerged reefs are doing a fab job of controlling any rough seas - so calm seas plus wide beach - hurrah!

Because the hotels stopped the work at the last week of Nov. - that meant that since the fluidisder hadn't been installed as yet - the workmen had to remove the rock road, all the heavy machinery, all the barricades, re-fill in the gully/lagoon, (the pump house is built - the piles are in - but the piping still needs to be installed and all the electrics) - so since the fluidiser is one of the main components of this whole project - to stop the build up of rainwater behind the berm, draining down from St. Thomas, and then after a very heavy rain - breaking through the berm and gushing into the sea and making a mess of all the beaches etc. for a couple of days........ this needs to be finished ..... so we are awaiting the re-start date ....... when we hear... we will advise - however the beaches are wide and improving every week - as every wave that laps on the shore deposits a minute amount of more sand.

When the work restarts will it impact on the beach outside of the Palm beach condos or is it limited to Discovery Bay hotel area only

Thanks

No - shouldn't have any impact on Palm Beach -(our beach was finished with the submerged reef in place, the marine warning lights on the reef, the beach "nourished"-i.e sand brought in and spread out etc.,) - what is to happen we assume (no official statement from Govt Eng in charge of project *yet*) -is rock road from along side the Art Studio will be relaid down onto the beach, across the front of Discover Bay, as the pump house is on the DB side of the gully, then the machinery re-brought back in -gully/lagoon re-excavated, piping laid, and the electrics installed etc. - maybe some more "nourishment" of the DB beach - or possibly even a bit more for Mango Bay? - can't see any need to do absolutely anything to beach in front of Palm Beach - it is wide and very nice and calm as submerged reef breaks the force of any waves.

spoke to a "regular" at DB this morning - he said that as far as he could tell - some work of some sort was going on inside the pumphouse -( but as it is not visible he couldn't say what/if/ ???) - but that there was "sounds" coming out of the pump house - and he assumed those "sounds" were being made by workmen inside the building.... but this is hearsay only .... but have chatted to this visitor for many years - so would trust what he says

Re doing more work in front of PB.... can't see Govt wasting extra money to do anything totally unnecessary - and anything else in front of PBC would be a complete waste of taxpayer $
