all inclusive or self catering?

Hi, we are planning to visit Barbados at the end of September 2014 for 2 weeks. Have been looking at all inclusive at crystal cove and beach view hotel self catering. Both hotels look excellent but there is a £2,000 difference between all inc and S/C. Which will be best value for money? We have never been all inclusive anywhere before so are very tempted to go to crystal cove. We would appreciate any advice. Also how much should we expext to pay for a bottle of local dry white wine and bottle of local beer. Barbados looks a fantastic place to holiday and any info would be greatly appreciated.

Over the past 20 years or so we have visited barbados 2-3 times a year and have found that it's not necessarily cheaper to go self catering than AI BUT you get to go to a different restaurant each night rather than eat in the same dining room for 3 meals a day.

After a few days we found this got a little boring - and we have stayed at all of them on the island.

As for where to stay - Beach view is our choice every time.

Hope this helps.

Good choice with Beach View excellent property.

I am not adverse to AI, FB or SC sometimes it suits us to relax and not wonder about where to eat, the beauty of booking with Elegant Resorts is that you have the choice to dine at their sister hotels on the west and south coasts. There is a small supplement to dine at colony club.
