Bringing gifts to friends questions

Hi there,

we have friends who we visit twice a year in Guardalavaca and they have asked for sheets for their bed - I have tried in my best Spanish to ask if they need double or queen or king size but she is not understanding me ... does anyone have any guesses if most of their beds would be double or do you think they have queen and king size beds in their homes?

I have seen their bed but never focussed on it so not sure what the size is.

I also have a brand new box of silverware I was going to take as the last few times we have had dinner at their home they never had enough so I was going to take it to them but not sure if this will be allowed thru customs? anyone know?

Thanks in advance for any ideas

Oh yes, knives, even butter knives, would be confiscated quickly. Checked it and forgot about it. They were more concerned with the angle grinder in my other bag ;) lol

Hola cat1024

Many have already posted that the chances are greatest your friends' bed is a double. I would suggest you just ask them to send you the measurements of the bed/mattress - that is less likely to be "lost in the translation".

Cheers

I would also say that the bed is 99% certain to be a double bed. As others have said put the silverware in your checked luggage.

Double , 4.6 feet or even 4 foot.

I have taken king and super king FLAT sheets. They then can make extra pillow cases or cupboard runners with the ectra material.

The friends I take them for say having the extra material is a god send.

ok got this text from them

Es cama matrimonial.

Cama para dos

which means

It's double bed.

Bed for two

But a bed for 2 could be queen also ... maybe I will ask for measurements but I don't know if they even have a measuring tape.

It will be a double.

Buy flat sheets so if a bit big they do not pop off the corner.

what size is a queen anyway?

“what size is a queen anyway?”

******

A queen sized bed would be 60” x 80”, whereas a double would be 54” x 75”.

Cat10024, You are over-thinking this. If they said that it is a cama matrimonial, then it is a double bed. End of story. To ask again could be the same as asking how many ounces are in a cup.

I agree with Madrugada54. It's definitely a double bed. Just buy the sheets for a double bed and it will be fine.
