Is it possible to walk safely and easily between stanbury and haworth? How long would it take?
Do you mean as a countryside walk or along the road? If I recall correctly the road is narrow and winding with no footpath so not the best of routes. A daytime alternative would be via Penistone Hill Country Park

But you'd have to cross the reservoir at - em - Reservoir Road which isn't very wide but does have fast traffic
Yes that is true but possibly less dangerous than walking via the direct road?
I wouldn't want to walk either route.
I've done the Reservoir Road route even in the dusk. It seems perfectly safe as long as you take reasonable care. I guess it depends who's walking - I wouldn't risk it with a pushchair at night, I suppose!
Takes about 30 mins back into Haworth.Edited: 3:12 pm, August 13, 2017
The Reservoir Road route is part of various walks to Bronte sites, e.g.: -

so I'm not alone in thinking it's OK. (I thought I'd check this in case I was giving dodgy advice!)
Thanks for your advice everyone.
We're staying at the Silent Inn in December and plan to spend the day - evening in Haworth and have a few drinks, so don't really want to drive. Perhaps we'll walk in via Reservoir Rd but get a taxi back.
