As you have seen from GB's earlier post, get out and see as much of the island as possible! It is such a beautiful place and you would never get to see it all if you stayed around Argostoli. Have a fantastic time!

We will be stopping by for one day. What is a "must" there? We have kids ages 4-12, adults 38-40, and older adults 65-70. Total of 15 people! We only have one day there but want the best. What do you recommend? Thanks!

Hi vickintx,

There are several options depending on how much time you have.

1. Just spend the day in Argostoli where there are a couple of museums, lots of shops and cafe/bars.

2. Hire a small coach and have a tour looking at various sites

2. Hire a small coach, go to St Georges Castle and explore the castle.

3. Hire a small coach to drive up to Assos along the coast road. Have a break in the village and return.

If however you are there on a Monday, the museums and castle are closed.

Cephalonia is a beautiful island and really warrants more than a day. Note that much of the island was destroyed in 1953 by an earthquake and so there are very few old buildings.

There are some excursion companies on the island that will be pleased to quote and also suggest itineraries.Panem is one such company who usually have regular trips but would probably do a bespoke tour.

If you google "excursions kefalonia" you will probably find other companies.

Hope this is some help.

Bob
