Coast Track in July or August

How is the weather in late July/early August for the Coast Track? Would there be a better one to do during that time of year?

Weather is NZ is unpredictable at any time of year; there can be wind / rain / cool southerlies at any time. July/August is of course winter. The Abel Tasman Coast Track is a great trip for that time of year if you want to be out walking. If the weather is bad it could be wet and cold and windy, but unlike most tracks there will not be problems with snow or avalanche risk. There are also many sunny and still days in Winter, and the Coast Track is amazing on those days. It won't be swimming weather, but you will also miss the crowds and may well have some huts / beaches all to yourself.

We did the Abel Tasman Inland Track in June, finishing off with one night on the Coast Track where we had Anchorage Hut all to ourselves, along with an amazing sunrise over Te Pukatea Bay. A few pictures at
