Arillas or Kalami

Hi! Looking some advice. I am trying to decide on a holiday for next summer and we have definately decided on Corfu. Problem I now have is choosing the right resort. We are a couple in our early 30s, we do not like the nightclub scene and are not keen on mass tourism influenced resorts. We would much prefer traditional Corfu! I have been looking at Kalami( Adonis & Asonitis) and also Arillas (Kaloudis). Now I love the look of both these places, is there enough to do in the evening in Kalami, are there plenty of restaurants and are there a few quiet bars? There seem to be more going on in Arillas, does it still have the traditional feel to it, would be better there with more choice in the evening. Also, are the two accomodations I have listed decent? Thank you in advance! :) By the way, planning on 1st two weeks of June! Have also posted this in kalami forum!

Arillas is fantastic and so are the Kaloudis appartments!.If you want that Greek feel with great authentic tavernas, great Greek hospitality and a lovely beach then Arillas is the place for you! I can't comment on Kalami as I haven't been but you really won't be disappointed if you decide on Arillas and Kaloudis. It's such a peaceful, frienly and relaxing place but not too quiet that there is no atmosphere. We loved it and are returning again this year which is something we rarely do. We often return to a place but not the following year as there is still many places we want to visit. But we couldn't resit it!

Just read all the reviews and believe the excellent ones as they really are true!

There are plenty of traditional tavernas which are mainly situated on the sea front overlooking the beach watching the most amazing sunsets as you're sipping your cocktails! Simply Heaven! We also didn't have one bad meal during our stay and the prices are very reasonable too. I've heard Kalami can be a bit expensive?

I could tell you lots more great things about Arillas and Kaloudis appartments but just go for yourself and you won't be disappointed!

Only 6 more weeks until we go. Can't wait!!!

Happy Holiday!

hi sunnysuze. that u for your great reply. i am so jealous you are heading off in 6 weeks!! i saw on a review today about kalami being expensive and i love greek food so much so want to eat out loads! do u know if the kaloudis has air conditioning in rooms? auh i think arillas is ticking more boxes that kalami! i lived in a village in cyprus for a year and want to experience that village feel rather than a commercialised resort. sorry if my spelling is bad, typing on a really tiny screen and the worst phone ever!

Hi

Yes the Kaloudis does has air conditioning it was this year 6 euro's a night for the studio apartments and I think it was 8 euro's for the two bedroom apartments. I went this year and loved it and booked again for next year which is something we have never done but if you like nice walks and lovely eating places then this is the place for you.

Hi,for what it's worth we stayed in Arillas (Akti Arillas Hotel) in june 2006.Arillas is really nice resort & not over commercialised at all.Lovely walks over the headland to San Stefanos area. When we went to Sidari 2 years ago,we walked from there to SS & into Arillas just to recapture our time there for an hour! Cannot comment on Kalami as not been there yet.We go to Acharavi for 2 weeks in 12 days time.We would def go back to Arillas when we get a good offer.Hope this helps you make a decision.Regards!

Stayed in both apartments. In my opinion the accomodation in the Kaloudis is superior to the A & A and Arillas is one of our favourite resorts. I enjoyed both and the A & A has stunning views but Kalami definitely quieter and more expensive. The beach in Kalami is pebbles and the beach in Arillas is sandy. Loved both resorts but would choose Arillas or maybe Paleokastritsa, my two all time favourites.

Hi Scarletrugby - Thank you, Sidari didnt really appeal to us, might have a nosey at Achravi though! Hope you have a great holiday!

Hi KarenJersey - Thanks for the brilliant comparison. I do love a sandy beach. Might have a nosey at the other place you mentioned too! I am really leaning towards Arillas now! I wish I was going this week :)
