Could you please advise is it best to take Dollars Or Kenyan shillings. Also what is the normal recomende tip to give safari guide.

We take dollars for the entry visa and sterling which we change on arrival - not at the coast hotels as they give a terrible rate. We use either the bank at the airport or Coast Forex in Mombasa.

We also take our debit/credit cards for use in the ATMs. Do tell your bank that you will be using your cards in Kenya to avoid a lengthy call back to the UK and a red face at the till!

Safari drivers - if they've done a good job we usually tip 500 shillings per person per day.
