Hotel

Hi

looking at booking a trip with my girlfriend for two weeks to Kenya and need a bit of advice on hotels:

Travllers Beach

Sun `n` Sand Beach

Bamburi Beach Hotel

Are these good? Anyone recommend?

Also how much is it to eat and drink in diani if not all inclusive?

Can anyone recommend a villa / apartment to rent

consider looking at the Diani Sea resort on the South coast of mombassa, it is all inclusive but if you want to go out there are plenty of places to go, it is the best of both worlds we have been going for 4 years now and return in feb we would not go anywhere else

you will have a great time

Stuey,

Just a tip for the future, its a minor point but Travellers and Bamburi Beach are at Bamburi - Sun and Sand is at Kikambala, all on the North Coast. None of them are actually at Diani which is the other side of Mombasa on South Coast. Each of these areas have their own forum page, but you will probably still get a good response because most regulars use the Kenya view which lets you see all the forums.

Stayed at Travellers on North coast some 10 years ago, but think it has been revamped into an all- incl section and a halfboard section since then. Hotel good but a bit cramped for space, as are most North coast hotels, also beach not as good as in Diani.

Have been staying at Southern Palms on Diani the sister hotel of Bambui Beach for 10 years but it has gone downhill the last year or so (see my review of SP). Think Bamburi has same problems of funding as Southerm Palms

Heard quite good reports on Sun 'n' Sand, probably good option. Voyager also has good reports. But both these on North coast. On Diani you could try Leopard Beach or Leisure Lodge, but not too sure which, if any, UK tour operators cover.

You can eat out at virtually all levels. Africa pot is a tourist version of a local restaurant, you can get a meal for less than a £5 each, beer at about £1.20; in the hotels expect to pay around £2.20 for a beer. At top end is Ali Babas, set in a cave, this will hit the pocket at around £40 per head but a great experiance. Around Diani there are a good selection of Italian/Indian/Chinese etc in between these prices. Red Bull steak house also good, massive steaks. Most will pick up and return to hotel, don't even think about walking out in the evening or bar hopping. Also one or two discos to be found, same applies, if going there take taxi to/from. Hope this of help, if can be of further assistance please contact. Have been going to Kenya for 16 years, but as we (wife and I) are in our 60s our views might not be appropriate.

Hi There,

Have stayed at Bamburi Beach and when we stayed there it was basically a knocking shop or clip joint for old men and women looking for a casual holiday partner.!

Travellers Beach is a nice hotel - we got married there 4 years ago

Haven't stayed at the Sun and Sand

Southern Palms is a nice hotel and ticks most boxes

Diani Sea Resort has been our hotel of choice for the last three years - (check out my review)

Eating and drinking becoming more expensive due to the weakness of the pound v dollar and Shilling and Euro

Havent rented in Kenya yet!! but will watch reply posts with interest

we had awonderful holiday at neptune paradise, the food is excellent, the staff are ace, the hotel is clean, comfatable and very african with monkies of all types running around, not to mention the lizzards, baboons. we went all inclusive and found it excellent value, got all sorts of activities going on, from snorkelling trips to beach volleyball - or - you can just sit under a palm tree and chill! we also had an excellent safari with tanka tours and the wonderful jean, 1/3 of the price of cosmos rep and staid in all the same lodges would highly reccommend a trip here

I would still reccomend Diani sea resort we go there every year the beach is great and it is a wonderful area.

I noticed that some of your preferred resorts were on the north coast but you will not regret the trip down to the south coast it will be well worth the trip
