southwest monsoon is set to bring, during the next three-four days, the first active spell of widespread rainfall over Kerala since its belated onset on June 5.

It was about eight years ago that Kerala Tourism (KT) began to promote the monsoon as a Dream Season, with the stakeholders – offering accommodation and tour packages at competitive rates from the time the monsoon begin in early June to the end of September when the regular tourist season kicks off.

The southern districts are deficient in rainfall as on Wednesday 20 june.

Six northern districts — Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad and Thrissur — have already caught up with normal rainfall.

There was rain during the night of 21 June , afternoon of 24th for an hour. Otherwise there was no rains during the past days in the region

it is slightly hot and humid during the day time , giving a feeling of early summer day times

The first half of the previous week (24- 30) , wasnt raining , but towards the end we have started to experienced the monsoon showers . Past two days have seen the active spell of monsoon shower in the region

The current spell of widespread rain in Kerala is likely to gain in strength and continue into the week ahead, going by meteorological indications.

The reports also state that "

Kerala finished June with 31 per cent less rainfall than usual.

Whether the months of July, August and September can make up that much deficiency in monsoon rainfall is slowly turning into a matter of concern for the State.

The feel of the monsoon shower has started, with rains over the last two days

it rained for an hour non-stop, morning and evening and cloudy through out the day .it was raining continuously the previous night.

it was a rainy day yesterday ( 4 july) with rains almost the entire day .

i hope some rains happens at the mountains as well, as the news reports says we dont have water in the reservoirs for producing enough power !
