ATM advice

Payment on Maupiti and the out islands is often cash only, and the highest amount of local currency we could ever get out of an ATM was 40,000 CFP at the Tahiti airport on arrival; everywhere else, the maximum was 30,000 or less, sometimes as little as 13,000. We fortunately had planned for needing a pile of cash, and had our bank issue ATM cards for each of us, both tied to the same account but with different card numbers. That way we were able to double our daily withdrawals—and that sure came in handy on black pearl purchase day—be prepared! I am posting this on a couple of other forums, in the hope that it will be of some benefit.

Good idea, but because the ATMs in Tahiti are so unreliable and often run out of cash, it's a good idea to have a backup-plan if you know you will need a lot of cash -- like ordering online from Wells Fargo before you leave home.

By the way, I don't think there are any ATMs on Maupiti...

No ATM, but you can pay with Euro at Hinano and another shop with US$, otherwise just local currency, but
