Day hike with one night in a hut?

We will be travelling in June and only have a few days to drive around. We want to spend a good part of one day hiking and stay in a hut. But, we don't want a long hike the second day to get back to our car. What possibilities or trails are there that might satisfy our needs?

Thórsmörk comes to mind. Only difference from your requirements would be that you can not drive there yourself probably, so you would have to take the bus. You could get the bus in the morning of the first day, for example from Hella, and then hike in Thórsmörk (many different hikes available). Ovenight in one of the huts, more hiking the next day, then the bus back.

There are three alternatives for accomodation in Thórsmörk:

Volcano Huts: Only alternative that has "ordinary" accomodation (sleeping bags not required), but also bunk bed accomodation and camping available. http://www.volcanohuts.com/

The Básar hut, operated by Utivist, sleeping bag accomodation and camping: http://www.utivist.is/english/basar-hut/

The Langidalur hut, operated by FI, sleeping bag accomodation and camping: http://fi.is/en/huts/thorsmork/

At this point I would imagine that there could be issues with available accomodation.
