Hiya,

I hope this helps:

There is an area called Green Mango which is a lane with bars, we usually head up to the one at the end. It's large and the music is good (dance music). Sorry can't remember the name, it usually comes to life around 11pm if you pass earlier it will be dead. We found another bar further on from the green mango area on the same side of the street, (left) if your coming from centara. Go past the money exchange and the guys selling cd/dvds it's on a corner very modern on two levels. The lane that goes up the side of the bar has a tatoo place. Both of these places has good music the second is one of the more upmarket places, the guys who run the restaurant RICE were in the bar everytime we went. Btw Rice is an Italian restuarant and both times that i have been it's been really nice.

If you prefer live music and more of a pub, then tropical murphys the irish pub is good. The bands, big screens for sports and they do decent food. Tropical Murphys is on your right handside going into the resort from your hotel, just really at the start of the strip.

Enjoy.

Chewang is great for having a casual beer to going to a really nice bar, have a wander and you will probably find one or two that suits.

Hi

You`ll enjoy Centara Grand & the surrounding area.I`ve always stayed in the general area of Centara Grand and absolutely love it.

Easiest way for me to find some nice places with cheap happy hours & good vibes was to head out on a lovely stroll down the main road.Your probably looking at 30 mins walk into the main part of Chaweng longer if you stop or never in fact make it (which happenened to me more than once)

Your 2 main established nightclubs are the Green Mango & The Reggae Pub however there are others .

The Green Mango is in the main part of Chaweng,it is located at a place called Soi Green Mango (Soi meaning lane or alley)Soi Green mango is 2 way u shaped lane filled with a bit of everything & is well worth a look. You can`t miss the actual Green Mango niteclub but as the previous poster said it doesn`t start rocking till around 11pm so if you`re earlier than that you think it`s a dud but if it`s rocking it`s a good night out.The whole Soi Green Mango area is a great nite out in my opinion.

The other main niteclub is the Reggae Pub..It is situated across Chaweng Lake & easily accessible by walking or songtaew.Just pick up one of the many easily accessible maps of Samui & workout the best way for you to get there.Once again don`t get there before 11pm as it will also appear dead. The music is loud & if your into dancing drinking & enjoying yourself a great nite can be had.

There is no shortage of different bars & clubs in Chaweng & as the previous poster said "Chewang is great for having a casual beer to going to a really nice bar, have a wander and you will probably find one or two that suits."

Enjoy

Jamie

Well done, Jamie.

As said before, there are more than Green Mango & Reg Pub. Just to pick out some, worth mentioning IMHO:

MINT:

Great House & Electro music, sometimes Charts, right next to Green Mango, but a rather smallish bar, so often packed.

Q-Bar:

North of Chaweng Lake, uphills the road toward the Big Chaweng Pagoda [Wat Kao Hua Jook]. Can't miss it. Magnific view over Chaweng from the terrace, while chilling in white sofas, great food & drinks, and Club Lounge Music (sometimes accompanied by live saxophone)

Monkey Bay Beach Bar Chaweng:

Name says everything. House & Techno right on the beach.

Solo Bar:

Although named a Bar, in fact it's a quite spacious, lounge style dancefloor, ft. electronic music. Just follow the crowd moving toward, taking a left at the end of Soi GM, about a time when Green Mango is going to finish.

Camp Beer:

Different experience for those who would love to give a chance to Thai Live Music in an almost Thai only clientele. To be warned, it's different from western party style. [Ppl sitting around long tables for food and drinks. Later some of very "wild one's" may dare to drop a bit of their Thai native reserve, doing some freestyle dance moves infront of the stage. But we love to see, how everybody s enjoying it, so may worth a visit too.

Have fun

KK

Hi,

You will also find the local wee bars in the outlying resort brillant, really cheap and usually they just keep open until you fall down. lol (not of course that i have ever done that!!).

There is also an ice-bar somewhere never made it there.

o well here goes

Anything out there for use that still think we can give it large at fifty L O L not into madness but would still like to have a boogie to a 70s 80s ever 90s tune there must be some where out there rather than a hotel show,

Think we would get rather fed up staying in the hotel all our holiday, also not come alive till 11 may well have to set our alarm's hope someone can help and no hysterics for you youngsters
