Fishing in Santa Maria

I went to Santa Maria last year at this time and when I tried to book an inshore fishing trip everything was booked two weeks in advance. Anyone know of any guides there I can pre book before I leave.

We are leaving on March 6th.

There was a man who brought his own pole down this past week. He asked around and found a fellow Cuban man to take him around to fish. He ended up getting caught by their police, and got a slap on the wrist.

I also saw someone (perhaps the same fellow) casting his pole right off the beach between Husa and Playa Cayo. I am unsure if he had any trobles.

I was told that you can take your pole on the Catereran trip.

Sorry I couldn't answer your question specifically but thought you might want a bit of other info.

Good Luck!

I find it hard to understand why the police would slap anyone.

They join in when my hubby goes fishing.

They have even brought him back in the police car when they have finnished fishing.

That means they let him off from any charges......

If you fish from the bridges you may have someone tell you to move on - safety issue as traffic is really moving on the causeway. There is no problem with fishing under the bridges.

There is a marina on nearby Las Brujas and fishing excursions are possible. It is the first of the grouping of three islands Las Brujas/Ensenachos/Santa Maria at the end of the causeway. Here is a link to more info on this and an email address for the marina is provided. They may know of some guides that can help you.
