Daytrips from resort area

We're thinking about a trip to Cayo Santa Maria (probably Memories). Are there daytrips into Santa Clara? Are they convenient, expensive...? Any other good stuff to do off-resort? Thanks! :)

Here you go.

Excursions are operated by Cubanacan. Prices are the same from all tour ops.

Cheers

The missus and I have done the Jeep tour twice and it is a lot of fun. Last time we lucked out and got a convertible Jimny instead of the hardtop.

We always rent scooters for the day/night and drive into town across the causeway. They have a great dance club which we party for most of the night and come back around sunrise!! best night of the vacation usually. Great place to buy your booze and cigars are its dirt cheap 2-3cuc over there per bottle!

Sunset cruise does include lobster dinner - check details with rep.

Be aware that if you buy illegal (street) cigars, they will be confiscated if found when you depart. There are plenty of scams selling junk that looks real, even with look-alike seals.

The best trip we did was hire a taxi and spent the day in Remedios and Caibarian. We also went to Santa Clara but would not do that again unless the Che memorial is high on your list. Santa Clara downtown is just like any busy small city. Too much traffic and not enough character IMHO. Remedios has a great atmosphere and a lovely church. You can sit in the square and watch the world go by very slowly.
