Hi,

We have just booked a week in Ampavris for the 6th June, We would like to know how far from the airport, and any other little tips would be helpful.

The Ammpavris apartmemts (base their name by the area they are situated) are about 22 kilometres from the airport. Almost on the suburbs of Kos town, they are quiet and i hear some good comments. Many repeaters too.:)

Hi Eva,

We have just returned from Ampavris yesterday and if you want somewhere out of the town centre it is perfect,15 mins walk down quiet streets (take a torch for late night returns!!!) to old town or 20 mins to harbour, both with lots of bars, restaurants and gift shops. Pick up a street map from the Thompson rep or one of the travel agencies. A local bus goes to various Kos town areas from Akti Miaouli street near the harbour (and also through Ampavris every hour if you can't face the walk back). If you fancy going further afield the Island bus departs to all the main resorts from Kleopatras street which you will walk past on the way to the harbour. Timetables are available at the terminals. Cars can be hired from the apartment or in many hire shops in town. Lots of ferries to Turkey, and 3 island trips (Pserimos, Plati & Kalymnos).

Just one local supermarket and one taverna in Ampavris but they do a great meze selection.

Rooms are basic but ok, pool is good with bubble area but no mattresses on the sunbeds. Greek night is good fun on alternate Tuesdays. George and Eleni and the sons certainly know how to make sure you have a great time, especially Costa behind the bar(Say hello mate, high 5) Thompson trips a rip off go to the local travel agents in town for exactly the same trips at much lower prices. You willhave a great time.

Hi, we stayed at these appartments last year and in fact we are due to revisit on the 17th June 2009. They are set back from Kos Town but that means it gives you a chance to walk off all those extra holiday calories esp if you do the walk twice a day.

The bars in Kos Town are good and the resort is good for all ages as you can sit in the square with a glass of wine or go into some of the Bars on Bar Street. The sunbeds by the pool don't have mattresses, however we just bought a lilo from the local shop. There is a bus on the hour to Tingaki beach at a cost of 1.30 euros. The rooms are basis but it has everything that you need and is very clean. The hotel owners are lovely and make you feel very welcome.if you need any info just let me know.
