HKIA - Macau round trip

Will be spending 1 night in Hong Kong and then plan to visit Macau on day 2. My current plan is to use the luggage storage facility at HKIA at terminal 1 and then take the ferry from Skypier to Macau. At the end of the day take TurboJet back to HKIA and collect our luggage and then go to the Cathay Pacific lounge to wait for our flight departing a little after midnight.

My first question is will we be allowed to travel from Macau to HKIA as our flight departs after midnight (12:30 am) and technically not the same day?

My other question relates to access at the stored luggage facility at the airport in Terminal 1. Is there any reason why we cannot access the luggage storage area upon return to HKIA from Macau? Do we need to go through immigration or customs?

Sorry, your idea will not work. Because SkyPier can only be used when you come off from a plane without going through the immigration into Hong Kong. Once you get into Hong Kong, you cannot use SkyPier to go to Macau. If you store your luggage in Terminal 1, you would need to go to Macau via Sheung Wan or China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Thank you! Very helpful information. We will either store the luggage at the airport and go back to Kowloon for the ferry or just use the luggage lockers at the China Ferry Terminal. I think the second option is easier. Are the lockers ever "sold out" and what kind of coins do we need? Planning to purchase our ferry tickets online in advance as it will be a Sunday and possibly busier.

A possible alternative would be to use Cathay's early luggage check-in option at one of the Airport Express stations before heading over to Macau (you would be paying for an AE ticket you don't use, but not need to worry about back-tracking on the way to your flight).

On arrival in Macau, show your passport and boarding pass to purchase your tickets for the HKIA ferry (one level up from the Arrivals hall), and then the rest of the day is yours.
