If Sofitel is cheaper, then I would definitely go there - it is newer, more centrally located (except for the ferry pier, which is just next door to the Rocks), and has better facilities.

Hi, I will second the emotion of staying at Sofitel @ Ponte 16.

Rocks Hotel is at the far end of Fisherman Wharf, and personally I am not one that is keen on walking through public human traffic to get to your hotel, which is right at the end of this touristy spot.

Oh yes, Sofitel @ Ponte 16 is much more imposing, and can be considered easier to reach sights, outside eateries, shopping areas, and a good base to cover most of Macau's heritage sites.

You will certainly have a more productive holiday, and may I say time efficient staying at Sofitel@ Ponte 16.

If you plan carefully, you can do a circular exploration, from this hotel to A Ma temple(and also Maritime musuem),then to St.Augustine's Square, and back to Senado Square.

Please save the MOP300,and remember us when you are shopping, or eating one of Macau's great food-margaret egg tarts, gelatos, meat jerky, steamed milk etc. It is easier to get to the foodies from Sofitel @ Ponte 16.
