Gili Trawangan in july!

Hi !

Just wondering if any one would be able to offer some much need advise! 6 of us traveling to trawangan late July hopefully for 6nights. Have Nothing planned! Haven't looked at hotels or any boats to get there,we will be in Bali for 1week prior so we're planning on organising boat to gilli there rather than pre booking...is this a wise idea?? Looking for budget-midrange hotel...could we leave this till we get there or should we book before we go?any suggestions on hotels???

You are headed to a wonderful place, high season is just starting to pick up but all in all you should have no issues in travel and budget. While in Bali try staying at New Arena Hotel Poppies one rooms are hit and miss but the price is right and the pool is amazing. To sort out boat tickets go to swell restaurant poppies one right across from there is a small restaurant with ticket booth, as for HAPPY and negotiate hard, fast boat all the way, if your not happy with the price say you will be back. Gili islands is the best small island amazing vibe if there is 6 of you traveling try Palm Bay Bungalows two very large rooms for groups, you can put 6 in one room or 3 in each, as well there is 2 smaller rooms. find them on facebook Palm Bay Bungalows gili t

When eating out you can save money by going to the market at the center by basketball courts, but make sure you visit the nicer restaraunts for nice barbeque. Monday, Weds and Friday are your best party nights but there is always some excitment to be found. What ever you do do not take the slow boat waste of time and money. Remember to try and bring a few extra bucks atms can be a pain sometime. Enjoy jealous

I work and live on the gili's (gili trawangan) fell in love with the place and never leaft,

If you are going to stay in bali for a couple of days dont pre book your boat tickets online do some bartering with the touts on the street at tour agents, until recently the price was around 250,000 rp each way but i think they have put their prices up for high season to more like 350,000 + the slow boat is a painful 10 hour ordeal and you only save around 200,000 each there is an inbetween option called perama boats they do the trip for 200,000 last time i checked the trip is around 4hours and you get food on the boat and it is quite a chilled way to get here on a indonesian pinisi boat. If you are lucky you get sunset as you arrive. you can also fly to mataram for 200k to 250k and it is 20 mins flight.

when you get here dont be disappointed that the prices have gone up since lonley planet was published you can get a budget room for 100k to150k some with breakfast some not etc

Ac rooms start from 200k and go up from there just take your time to look around and you can find something, and yea like everywhere there are touts on the beach to try to hustle you to rooms best is to stop in a cafe for a few minuites till they clear then go for it. walking round with bags will bring attention from everyone.

when you are here there are snorkelling tours, diving, horseriding and generall beach chilling. No police no cars nice vibe is what you can expect.

if you need further info you can call me direct on (+62) 081227257437 and i can help you directly

anyway have an awsome time and maybe see you here
