Trip to Chiapas in November

Hi, me and my girlfriend are traveling a bit in Mexico in November. Im thinking of leaving Merida in the evening on the 18th, and take an overnight bus to Palenque if possible.

l read somewhere

I have heard a lot of great things about Chiapas, and l definitely wanna see the Agua Azul watefalls, maybe the ruins (although l have been to a few ruins already, so this is not that important unless its something very unique) and Agua Blanca (dont know much about this, not sure if its worth a visit...?).

Other than that lm not sure what is worth visiting. l would like to see some beautiful scenery, maybe somewhere we can go swimming and/or hiking. Something a bit adventurous would also be of interest. We are not so big on watching architecture, arts and other cultural stuff.

After visiting Chiapas, we are going to Playa del Carmen, probably also by bus. Anything on the way that is worth visiting?

Palenque is my second-favourite ruin site in the world, after Tikal.

The Moon Chaipas guidebook has lots of things-to-do ideas. Also, the Moon Yucatan book includes Chiapas coverage, with lesser detail, but it would cover your entire area. I've found both to be excellent books.

San Cristobal is, to me, the highlight of Chiapas. If you like Merida, you'd like San Cristobal too.

"Worth visiting" is subjective; it depends on what you like.

There are many things to see and do. I would recommend Palenque. While there take a tour to Yaxchillan and Bonampak. To visit Yaxchillan you will take a river trip on the Usamacinta river, One side Mexico and the other side Guatamala.. You will see Howler monkeys. Then go to San Cristobal de las Casas where you can visit San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan two Indigenous communities. After that you can do Cañon Sumidero, a beautiful river trip. All of this is much better than PDC.
