Staying late

My flight isn't leaving until 9pm on Saturday night. Does anyone know if Dreams La Romana has facilities for those that are not leaving straight after check-out? How much is it? Is it better to stay on the property that day or go on a half-day trip/explore Bayahibe?

Where are you flying out of? If Punta Cana, you'll likely be leaving the hotel by 5 p.m. so it's not as much of an extension as it could be. The biggest thing you'll have to deal with will be your luggage.

You could check out at noon, leave your bags with the bellmen, and then spend the day doing what you want. Have lunch, play ball games, have cocktails on the pool deck, partake of water aerobics even. Later in the day you can shower at the gym if you choose to, or just go salty and sandy to the airport. I like smelling the beach on myself for the flight home. You can also spend a couple of hours in the afternoon getting a massage and then shower at the spa before you leave. That could feel good before a flight too.

There is also usually a courtesy suite where you can change clothes and have a wash. It may be used by a number of travelers like you.

If you do have a plan for the morning, like heading out on a tour to make the most of your day (I LOVE the long last day!), the hotel can often extend your check out, maybe by an hour for free or for a price, or for 4 hours for $10 an hour. Let them know a couple of days before you check out and they can let you know how late they can extend you, or maybe flag your room to ensure that they don't reassign it to somebody who's expected earlier in the day if they know that.

By the way, there's no extra charge for staying on the property until you leave for the airport if you check out on time. You can stay at the hotel with full use of facilities (except a room) until you leave the gates.

p.s. Flying out from Santa Domingo @ 9:40 pm. Someone had mentioned that at the airport in Punta Cana, you need to allow 3 hours for check-in. Would that be the same for SDQ?
