We have just returned from Matagorda yesterday. This is our third visit and we think its great. The restaurants in the Matagorda centre are varied and all very clean, plenty of small friendly bars for a drink and the pedestrian path along the beach to playa Honda is beautiful a plane watchers paradise. Aussies beach bar between Matagorda and Los pocillos is great for sitting in the sun and people watching with lovely friendly staff, and great bar food. We think Matagorda is lovely it wouldn't do if everyone liked the same things. Gillian

Each to there own. We stay in Matagorda all the time. Great to escape from the hustle of PDC after a meal or a pleasant night of music and cardiac hill areas. Too commercial and the tacky nuisances throwing cards and leaflets into ones face. At least you don't get that sort of thing in Matagorda. A variety of bars/restaurants run by pleasant people...spoilt for choice.

What part of PDC are you staying in? What do you enjoy? What time of day did you go to Matagorda Centro?

we stayed in fariones hotel. ate in lovely resteraunts like monte marte, cascada peurto. tratadoria etc and drank in a lovely cocktail bar in pdc called cocktail corner i think. one night we jumped in a taxi and went to commercial centre matagorda, we just found the centre very tacky and decided to jump in a taxi twenty mins later and eat in pdc. each to their own thou as you said. there does appear to be a few nice hotels in maragorda and nice promenade

Hello - how much noise from the planes do you get in Matagorda ?

It's difficult to quantify without getting a noise meter on the job but it's generally reasonably quiet. The main approach is over the sea and not over land. As you get closer to the end of the runway around the Beatrix hotel and Calle Amapola areas there can be more noise as planes get their engines going to take off in a northerly direction, but that only lasts a few seconds. I've never heard any complaints from anyone who's actually stayed in Matagorda and if you visit at any time of year you will see lots and lots of repeat visitors, which in itself tells a positive story - presumably Bosspat is one of these.

Hi davanddavy, I most certainly am a regular. the noise doesn't bother us. Been going there since 2001. Maybe the fact that a main rail line runs at the back of our garden here in Dublin is the reason as to why we are used some noise.

Annoying gardeners at 8am are worse....lol

Try an apartment in the Sol Lanzarote. We were there last week, very clean, quiet and has direct access to the promenade. If you decide on Matagorda we can recommend the Mexican restaurant in the Commercial Centre. Excellent food, we ate there twice during our stay.
