What to se nearby?

I have a house for two couples in Six-Fours-les-Plages for a week. I can choose between now and June 15, 2012 or Sept 22,2012 - Dec 2012.

When should we go and what should we see?

I have seen the info but so little is written about the area, we are going to be right in the centre os Six Four and it seems like nothing is there but tiny roads. We have dogs so selected a villa here for a few winter months. Not sure now...

I have been to Sanary and very much liked it, it's not far from you. Also Cassis, near Marseille is lovely and you can walk to the top of the calanques. Not to be missed is Hyeres but I think if you go to the island nearby, Porquerolles, you may have to leave your dogs behind

I just came back from a two week vacation in this area. There are about a thousand things I still didn't get to see or do. If you have dogs there are endless trails everywhere in this region to take them for walks. Here are a few places to get you started.

Bandol:

Cassis:

Les Calanques (boats departing from Cassis):

I assume you'll have a car so you'll have to have Michelin maps of the scale 1:150,000 or 1:200,000. You'll notice they have all kinds of icons for touristically interesting things. Pick any of the numerous designated scenic roads shown on the map and drive on them; making sure to pass through lots of small villages.

I've merely listed about a half dozen of the thousands of things you could see/do in this area. With all the tourist office links I've given you you'll have plenty of info to get started with your research. Your next step is to buy a guidebook or two for that area. You will not run out of things to do.

We have now been six weeks in the area and found so much including Foret de Janas - it has walks in the forest, by the coast, to a small lake plus a keep fit course and Go Ape type course off the main car park. Les Sablette is cute, I thought at first very touristy but I have found corners to visit and also really like le Brusc on the other side. Toulon is a delight, why do so many tourist books dismiss it.
