Pondy restaurants

Wanted to know dining options within Pondy preferably the promenade beach and french quarter area. We are travelling as a family with kids and elders. Not too much stair climbing and kid friendly. We are teetotallers only no smoking restaurants. Looking to try out some french, continental food in a relaxed setting not fast food. Budget midrange not too expi. Any suggestions?

Thanks for ur prompt reply. The New banana cafe reviews say that it is on the 5th floor. Is there seating on the first floor too? What about restaurants specialising in seafood any recommendations?

Sorry, you are right..The New Banana Cafe is a long climb... it was the old location which had one flight.

For seafood you could consider Palais de Mahe...but here too 2nd floor and flavours more Indian than European.

Checked Hotel d le orient. Asked for South Indian fish curry. Got some sweet french version of it. Not what we were told by the waiter. Wanted mild veg gravy. Got a spicy one. Mocktail was made of old fruits or something else - sour. Banana lassi full of sour curd. Pesto penne was kiddy portion size. Indoor seating not comfy. The waiter also did not recommend any house specialty. Should have tried Palais de Mahe i guess.

a) Adyar Anand Bhavan (A2B) offers fantastic finger-licking good south Indian food.

b) Bombay Anand Bhavan is another good option for veggies.

c) Pizzeria : near Auroville, is famous for its hand-tossed, wood fire pizzas

d) Le Café : near the promenade is a good place to have a cuppa coffee in the evening.
