I usually just rent my apartment in Playa den Bossa to friends and friends of friends but I'm having a terrible year with it so I clearly need to pull my finger out and put some more effort in!!
Can anyone give me any feedback on Holiday Lettings or Owners Direct (as a holiday maker or as a landlord). Are there any other sites worth considering?
Right now you may be to late. July and August are the busiest times on Ibiza.
different sites seem to work better for certain areas or types of property. 90% of our bookings have always come from owners direct and we have sold every week we wished to rent for the last 8 years. we now no longer use any other site.
interestingly we rent our neighbours' villa for them, it's almost identical to ours, but is furnished 'spanish style' and we get hardly any enquiries about it - in fact most of the rentals come from people who wanted to rent ours when we had no availability. it leads us to believe that the 'look' of the place is highly important for the british market.

Yes I have noticed that also. The dark wood traditional Spanish look turns certain people off. Bright, airy, contemporary/minimalistic with wi fi and audio/visual entertainment are the popular places right now.

I have rented with OwnersDirect, Holidaylettings, Holidayrentals etc. in various European countries. I don't know if we have just been lucky, but never have a problem, but always build up a rapport with the owner.
I don't think all that old fashioned reproduction type furniture is what people want these days. It makes a place look gloomy. I prefer, bright, modern, comfortable accommodation. I also prefer to deal with owners that I can pay in Sterllng as transferring money can be pricey. Having said that we rented a 'Trullo' in Apuglia two years ago and the Italian owner said we could pay all monies when we got there.

The apartment is modern, new kitchen & furniture etc. and everything is grey, cream, white or black, although the fitted wardrobes in one room are wood finish (cherry I think, and modern rather than old fashioned). People always seem to like the photos anyway.
I think I'm going to go with owners direct. Have also heard good things about airbnb so I might give that a whirl!
