Is it worth bringing sterling and changing it for euros in Zakynthos at the moment? What is the current exchange rate there?
deffinately don't exchange in zante, ive heard some places are giving 1.15 euro to the pound whereas back in uk your getting 1.20.50 euros more on £1000 exchange.
Thanks for that info Pete, was in town earlier and saw it was 1.20 so that's very good.
The rate in Zante has been really poor in the last couple of years. Change it over here & use your debit card for any more you need. Assuming your bank doesn't charge ridiculous amounts, (most charge about 2% for European transactions) you'll still be better off than changing over there.
We've only seen in the UK 1.17 as the best exchange rate so not much better.
Bought from fairfx yesterday au 1.20. Expect it to go u to around 1.205 early next week
Thomas Cook was 1.20 today too

got 1205 from fairfax today.no comission and free delivery if the order is over £500
I've changed £1000 cash yesterday at The Money Shop in town & got €1200. They offered €1195 but I asked for 1200 & they agreed. The rate outside the shop was 1-187. Its always worth asking wherever you want to change & don't be afraid to barter a bit, you won't get a big increase but I got an extra €5, thats a couple of Alfa's at the bar..
We used to use the post office until a few years ago but they're the worst around nowadays. As Pete said, you can get some really good deals online.
Holidayhappy. Anyone doing €1-17 is just taking the p*ss, you should be able to get a lot more than that anywhere. The rate today will probably be even better, the visa rate has gone from €1-22 yesterday to €1-23 this morning, I wish I'd waited... oh well
Just used Travel Premier and got 1.2058 on £1500 so worth looking round.
yep, don't bother exchanging out here, only if your really desperate
