The Ionian blue is well positioned for daily walks around Kalamaki being quite central, and from what we've seen looks very relaxing and peaceful in the day. We stay just around the corner at the Venus hotel so walk past your hotel once or twice a day, and have to say it looks very nice.

You are well positioned for a stroll down to the beach, where you will find a couple of nice restaurants Zepos and Stani, and our favourite daily retreat for a lunch time beverage (or two) is Crystal Beach hotel. The view here from the outside bar and pool area is beautiful, and goes down very well with a nice cool mythos!

Then in the evenings, you are very close to the Escape restaurant which is one of our favourites or Iguana, although we prefer Iguana in the daytime where you can sit on the rooftop.

Then on the main strip you will be spoiled for choice of restaurants and bars. We like Dias where the quality of food is always very good and reasonably priced, and they serve their own fresh vegetables from the garden. Lovely!

Red Tail cocktail bar opposite is very nice too for a drink before your meal.

And we have to mention Oceanic chill out bar too, which is in the quieter old Kalamaki road. This bar is unique, with no loud music or food, and Kevlar serves a proper cocktail here made from all branded spirits. We hear he has some new sweety cocktails this year so we will be in to try those for sure!

Anyway, there are many more good restaurants and bars to visit as I'm sure others will mention.

You will definitely not be disappointed with Kalamaki, as you seem to fit the bill, and like doing the same things as most of us who visit year after year.

Happy holidays!!

We too stay at the Venus and over the years watched your hotel being built. Friends of ours stay there regularly and love it especially having a toaster etc in the room for lazy breakfast on the balcony.

As said above you are in a good position to stroll the resort and away from the main road. Lots of restaurants and bars as already mentioned, you will soon find your favourites ours being Buon Amici, Dias, Paolos and Zepos.

A walk down the beach towards Laganas will bring you to the Kalamaki Beach bar, a great place to enjoy a cold drink looking out to sea as the afternoon draws to a close. Iguana too is lovely up on the roof top terrace and we like Cronulla Bar for a pre dinner drink or sometimes just a frappe after a morning shopping in town.

Just realised, we didn't mention the Venus for a good night out. It seems to go without saying as we stay here anyway and spend time here every day or night at some point.

Look out for what's going on from the board outside, and when something takes your fancy come along. You will have a great time. Then you only have to stroll round the corner to your hotel.

The cocktails are really good too and they also do fabulous food now in the evenings.

Hi,

I am wanting to take my mum back to Zante (after our BEST holiday in Zante a few years back) It is a treat for her 70th Birthday. She has trouble walking, but can manage short distances. Would this be a good bet??? Many thanks!

The Ionian Blue is on the flat and just a short walk from the main road or around the corner to Escape and The Venus which has a ramp up to the terrace. If you fancy going to somewhere like Zepos or Stanis then the walk might be a bit much but taxis around the resort are only about 6 euros so worth considering.

As said above the Venus do evening meals as well as the daytime snack bar and have some entertainment on during the week, all the info is on a board outside.

You really must take the effort to walk to Michaelos taverna - turn right on main strip till end then turn left - walk for 10 mins and its on your left. Read the reviews - best of many good places in Kalamaki. Georgia's on old Kalamaki road (turn right at end of main strip) and Oceanic bar for drinks after -150 yards further down the old Kalamaki road - so jealous
