3 week Rockies and Vancouver Island - Suggestions please

Any suggestions or comments on this itinerary for early September 2015, travelling from the UK. Using an internal flight to reduce travel time and driving and to maximize time in the parks.

1. Arrive Calgary - Collect car and drive to Banff

2. Banff

2. Banff

4. Banff

5. Drive Icefield Parkway to Jasper

6. Jasper

7. Jasper

8. Jasper

9. Drive Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise

10. Fly Calgary to Victoria

11. Victoria

12. Tofino

13. Tofino

14. Tofino

15. Tofino

16. Campbell River for Knigh Inlet Lodge

17. Knight Inlet

18. Knight Inlet

19. Vancouver

21. Vancouver

My thoughts at the minute are:

1. Should we drop one day from either Banff or Jasper, if so which?

2. Would an extra night in Victoria be worth it? Currently 2 nights but only really 1 day

3. Would the 2 night package at Knight Inlet be better than 3? Is 2 enough?

4. Do we need a night in Calgary first, following a transatlantic flight before driving to Banff?

5. We added the night at LL to break up the return journey down the icefields parkway from Jasper to Calgary

As concerns #4 - it would depend on what time your flight arrives in Calgary. If at night, it could be quite late by the time you get through customs, collect baggage and rental car. YYC to Banff is approx. 1.5 - 2 hour drive. Only you know how well you'd operate after a long flight.

That is a very nice itinerary. I wouldn't change a thing (with the exception of the above comments by phpr. It will depend on your flight arrival times, but I would think you will be fine)

1. If really needed drop 1 in Jasper or Tofino

2. One day in Vic will do.

3. 3 nights at Knight Inlet would be a very good thing.

4. If your plane lands by, say, 3 pm, you could consider transferring to Banff right away. If after 4, consider staying in Calgary. You will need 45-60 min for Canada Customs, 45-60 min for the car and approx 2 hours to drive to Banff. Sunset over the month of Sept will change from ~8:15 to ~7:15 pm and I think it would be better to do the drive in daylight.

5. Good idea, there or Banff. Nothing wrong with Banff if it appeals to you.
