Your EXACT itinerary, dates and proposed time of departure from Cavalese/arrival in Venice is HIGHLY important as you will see below.

This region of Süd Tirol is serviced by 2 different bus companies. One centred around Bolzano the other Trento. Cavalese is on the border of both regions operations and is serviced by both companies

There are no direct buses from Cavalese to Bolzano and going back to Bolzano is a bit of an unneccessary detour unless you wish to get the German Munich - Venice train (see below)

The Italians don't do (M)any Intercity services between Bolzano and Verona and no direct services from Bolzano to Venice. They are all/mostly Regional trains. All these Regional trains from Bolzano to Verona stop at Auer/Ora

The 140 Bus (SAD/SII) from Cavalese goes to Auer/Ora train station.

From Auer/Ora you can get direct trains to Verona.

From Verona there are numerous local Regional and faster Eurostar/Frecciabianca services to Venice.

http://www.sii.bz.it/en will give you the bus + train solution to Verona.

www.fsitaliane.it for Italian rail

This extract from Trentino trasporti "104" is quite good as it shows you the SAD/SII bus service from Cavalese to Auer/Ora and the connecting italian trains direction Trento - please note that sometimes on the regional services another change is required in Trento to continue on to Verona

However there is the "German" alternative.

German National rail www.bahn.de operate 5 direct services daily from Munich to Verona and 1 direct service to Venice.

The direct Venice service departs Bolzano at 15:31 and Trento at 16:04 arriving Venice at 18:10

Using the 140 bus from Cavalese to Auer departing Cavalese at 14:04 arriving Auer at 14:49 you would only have 6mins to get the train to Trento

instead at 15:05 from Auer take a Regional train to Bolzano arriving Bolzano at 15:22

Now to confuse you even more the Italians amongst a lot of arm waving threw all the toys out of the pram a few years ago in a dispute with the Germans over these cross border services. This led to a non cooperation on the Italian side even going as far a not even acknowledging these services existence on their online website timetables such as Trenitalia fsitaliane etc

Funny however but www.sii.bz.it shows all the german services in its solutions to Verona

Therefore if you wish to use the German service you can book your ticket online in advance at www.bahn.de

Please note when using ITALIAN Regional trains you MUST stamp your ticket in one of the yellow boxes at the station/pülatfrom prior to boarding. This is to validate the ticket. When you purchase a Regional ticket it is only for a Regional journey e.g. Auer to Verona - but has no specific service/day or date so you can buy these tickets well in advance just stamping it on the day/time you wish to make a journey. Failure to do so WILL result in a €50 on the spot fine.

Faster Eurostar/Frecciargento/Frecciabianca (ES , FAA, FB) trains tickets are different. These tickets are for a specifc service on a specifc day at a specifc time - like a flight - a seat reservation is also included. No need to stamp it.

It is possible to buy a through ticket from say Auer/Ora to Venice including a mix of Regional and Faster (Italian) intercity services but as the Intercity part is for a specifc service you have to be sure of your connections.

Again everything depends on your exact itinerary.
