Best Car Rental Company

My husband and I and another couple will be traveling to St Lucia at the end fo April for a week. We will need a car all week as we are staying in a villa not on the beach . We are flying into Vieux Fort and want to pick the car up at the airport. Looking to keep the cost under $400 for the week .

Thanks !!

We used West Coast Jeeps - www.westcoastjeeps.com - excellent communication and service. They will deliver to the airport - not sure of the actual costs for a week but I do seem to remember that prices were more or less the same no matter who you used.

We just booked a small jeep at Cool Breezes for the last week of March and it cost a little over $400 (no charge for 7th day). We are also staying in a villa and want to do lots of exploring on the island. :)

I've always used Nerv's Taxi and Auto Rental Service - he's across the street from the airport. We've been very happy with his service each of the 3 times we rented from him - ntars@hotmail.com - 758 454-5268 or 758 716-1893

Thanks so much for the quick responses !! I will check out each of these . We have never rented a car for an entire week in the Carribean before , usually just a day or 2 for exploring. Do you recommend we get added insurance ?

I rent using a credit card that covers the Collision Damage Waiver so I don't bother with any extra insurance, however it doesn't cover 3rd party liability. The best advice I can give is that it is better to be safe than sorry. Personally I am running a bit of a risk by not getting the liability insurance, but I am very confident in my driving ability. I took an excellent course that taught me defensive driving and I have extensive experience driving in many different locales and driving conditions. St Lucia's roadways will challenge your abilities - again the best advice I can give is to never take your eyes off the road - conditions and other variables can change very quickly.

I recommend a locally owned company rather than a multinational. As reported earlier today, one of only two business disasters in St Lucia was with a multinational car rental company. You have been given 3 excellent local choices. We used the same company as mw104 for a least a dozen years. I was planning to buy a car from this company next week but had to cancel our 4 month visit due to medical reasons.
