Getting Married at CB

My son and his fiance are thinking of getting married at CB. We would have a group of people and would be going site unseen. Please tell me that there is stuff to do for all ages and that the place is beautiful.....

Are there bugs (mosquitoes) at night (if they were planning on an outdoor reception)

I don't want to bring a group there and be totally disappointed.

also, is that the best side of the island. CB looks to be the best all inclusive resort for everyone

CB is lovely, large property with several pools, lazy river and waterslides, good kids club and decent food. I would classify it as a 2.5-3 star resort, not luxury, but good, clean accommodations and lots for the whole family. It is nearer to the sights of St. Lucia - the Pitons, snorkeling and hiking, ziplining, etc than resorts in the north of the island.

It is on the Attlantic side of the island and the ocean can be fairly rough a lot of the time. It is not a calm, swimming beach. There are breakwaters that help with the rough seas, but you will probably spend the bulk of your time in the pools. Also, as it is on the Atlantic side, it is quite frequently breezy to windy. While this helps with the heat and the bugs, it can occasionally be annoying. It does die down in the evening, but still breeazy - take into consideration for veil and dress - will be blown about a bit - not gale force winds, but breezy to strong breezes.

As for mosquitos - it is a lush, tropical island! Yes, there are mosquitos, no you shouldn't have too much of a problem. The resort fogs in the morning and evening (around 5/6 in the evening) and that helps keep the mosquitos population in check. A little bit of OFF! or some other bug spray and you'll be fine!

Some good resorts to check on the Caribbean side would be Smuggler's Cove - has a great kids club, adult's only, good food and lovely calm beach, with a few other beaches within walking distance.

Almond Morgan Bay is another good option with kids program, and several good restaurants, nice stretch of calm beach.

Both of those would be worth checking out - both higher on the luxury scale than CB, but not much more expensive. They are both further away from the sights of St. Lucia - about 20-35 more minutes by car from the main snorkeling and hiking opportunites, although there is a bit of snorkeling near Smuggler's Cove.

Good luck with the decision and congrats on the upcoming wedding!

Depending on what you like to do off resort, CB might be the better choice, as it is appreciably closer to the best attractions on both coasts. The beach is not great for swimming but it is good for romantic strolls as it is one of the longest on the island. Food is good, the staff is great and it is very lively at night. Best of all, with only being 5 minutes from the airport (UVF), you can be on the beach, drink in hand within 30 minutes of clearing customs.

AMB has nicer rooms and more amenities. Food is about the same quality but a little more variety. Entertainment was not very good - most nights the theatre was mostly empty. AMB is 75 minutes from UVF.

I have not stayed at SC but it is 90 minutes from UVF and furthest from the popular attractions.

If you decide to stay in the north, bear in mind the long drive from UVF is on roads that wind up and down the mountains - there are lots of curves, some hairpins and the occasional switchback. Many people get motion sick from the shuttle ride, so it is advisable to bring some Gravol or something similar if anyone in your party is prone to car sickness.
