first time in lanzarote / playa blanca

We've booked to go to Lanzarote for the first time, staying at this villa in playa blanca www.ownersdirect.co.uk/canaries/C1483.htm

As we've never been before, are there any restaurants / bars / things to do/see/visit around about that people would recommend. Not really into clubbing, although we do like a bit of lively goings out now & again, seeing tribute acts or shows etc.

Thanks in advance.

I am afraid there are no tribute acts or shows in Playa Blanca, it's a quiet resort with nice restaurants and chillout bars, the odd bar had a guitar/singer the Jungle bar has a pop group on one night and one or two restaurants had a singer in on odd nights. Blue Notes but has jazz nights.

Thanks for the reply Delboy. Don't mind so much if there's no tribute acts/shows as such. Spent the last few years visiting Tenerife, where there were a lot of these.

Would there be any restaurants people would recommend in the area? Not too fussed about cuisine. Would be willing to try anything once

The villa is in a great location. We stay on Los Calamares every year. The owners of Casa Estrella are really friendly and helpful! Quick stroll to the nearest supermarket, and a few more minutes will take you down onto the promenade.

Hopefully you won't find Playa Blanca too quiet - it's a lovely resort with a beautiful 6mile long seafront promeande.

Some restaurant suggestions: italian - Casale Franco - fantastic quality and reasonable. Run by experienced restauranteurs from London - great food from wood fired oven, complementary artisan breads, olives, cherry tomatoes and super service. Casual spanish - Cervantes - great for grilled meats and good value. For something more upmarket, try La Chalanita - specialises in dishes flambeed at your table. Not cheap but good quality. Likewise Sebastyans - a greek/international menu.

At Marina Rubicon, Vino Blanco is a lovely spot for lunch (tapas, salads etc) and evening drinks, as is Blue Note, the Jazz Bar next door.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies. Not too fussed about it not being as 'lively' as Tenerife. Sometimes, it's just a case of setting down somewhere having good food, a few drinks and people watching. Grateful for all the suggestions!

Ignore the naysayers who say Playa Blanca is "quiet" I'm just back from 2 weeks out there, and we made our own entertainment. You've chosen well - its the nicest resort with the best mix of hotels restaurants and bars in my view.

My favourite restaurant is Casa Pedro - has the most commanding position on the seafront in the resort - fish and squid is the speciality. Next door is the relatively new chalonita which we went to for the first time and were impressed. More of a meat place. Others to consider are Hervidoros (set back accros the road from the church) Aromas for a smart contemporary canarian dinner (bit pricier), Artista for when you've had enough fish and only carbs will do.

PB was the busiest I have seen it in years last week, was mainly tucked up by midnight so have no idea what was going on in the early hours....
