I heard a lot of discussions regarding the fact that alcohol is not served in Thoddoo!
If you bring your own beer will that be a problem?
Welcome to the forum. It is illegal to bring alcohol into the Maldives. It is only allowed on the private Resort Islands and not on the local inhabited islands.
Hi welcome to the forum 😊
As the other members have said ! You can't bring alcohol with you and you won't be able to sneak it in either.
whatever you try to carry in your luggage will be found without a doubt and you have no way to purchase any alcohol en route .. so that's a no.
This is a Muslim country under strict sharia law. You can't bring it in, no.
If you were unaware existence of or implications of Sharia Law when booking your trip do please ensure that you do some research before you travel. If you are visiting a local island it's very important that you understand and appreciate the implications there will be on how you dress and behave, and adhere to these.
To be clear, on resort islands sharia law is relaxed, booze and bikinis are fine, but on a local island it is not. Often there is a small bikini beach, but they can be crowded and often not so keen, I'm unsure about thoddoo. When uou got out and about on the island you need to be aware of modest dress and the cultural and legal expectations.
ALCHOL IS FORBIDDEN, FULL AND COMPLETE IN MALDIVES !
you can bring it but if they catch you your screwed.
trust me this place sucks enough as itbis and no beer makes it even worse...ok thats not posdible but no beer sucks !
Travelalloverdelmundo, as others have pointed out elsewhere, your comment is factually incorrect.
On resort islands alcohol is available. Resort islands are in the Maldives. There, you can drink until you are blue in the face and vomit into the ocean.
And if you can survive a week or two without beer, and trust me, plenty of tourists can, and if you choose your local island wisely, you can have an awesome holiday.
