Argostoli Hospital facilities

Any info. please on the quality of facilities and care at Argostoli Hospital. I am taking oral chemotherapy so am susceptible to infections and have bone density issues any details would be greatly appreciated to help me decide if I can keep my long awaited holiday to Kefalonia ! Thank you.

Hi Debster and welcome,

We found the hospital rather "tired" others have said it is dirty but there was no problem with the quality of care albeit only a minor injury

For specialist advice such as you require I suggest you contact a Doctor in Kefalonia. They all speak English as far as I know.

Here is one I have found from the internet.

Hope this helps and hope your holiday is a go-go

Bob

Hi Debster - not sure where you are staying, but I can recommend a very good English speaking Greek doctor in Skala if you need one. He was very kind to me, extremely good, and even drove me to the chemist to pick up a prescription and drove me back to my hotel, two years ago.

Sorry, just seen that this is in the Lassi thread, so I presume that is where you are staying. I always check through the main Cephalonia thread, so didn't see the Lassi part!

I was admitted to this hospital last September with hepatitis and spent three days there. As Bob says it is very tired and the ward I was on was dirty. The medical care was good and to be fair the greek doctors and nurses have to work in less than ideal circumstances. I don't speak greek so the language was a huge problem as very few staff speak English. All the signs at the hospital are only in greek too so it's easy to get lost! It's only a small hospital but I'm sure would be ok for you. I think more serious problems go to Athens. Hope you manage to keep your holiday to Kefalonia. I'm sure it will be just the tonic you need. There are several local private doctors who are very good and they do speak English. Hope this has helped
