Itinery Advice Needed

We will have 7 nights in Sri Lanka, arriving last week of January. From the airport we will go directly to Unawatuna for 3 nights for a bit of relaxation and then would like to move on, maybe making our way back up the coast. We do not want to do anything really strenuous but would like to visit some pretty villages and maybe a national park. We did the hill country on an earlier trip.

Thanks for any replies

I can say welcome to Sri Lanka.

December and January is a high tourist season in Sri Lanka.I am sure you will enjoy Unawatuan.

Since you have decision to visit Unawatuna Directly on your arrival, That you travel to the Yala National Park and Mirissa (unfortunately it is not the best time of the year to see Blue Whales and Dolphins). Galle, Matara will be on your route.

I'd do a whalewatching trip to Mirisssa from U'tuna, it's far to closeby to switch bases. Galle is also daytrip. Yala and Ella could be two other points, from Ella head back to Colombo/airport.

All the best,

I had thought of day trips from Unawatuna, is there enough around to stay longer than 3 days? We did Ella last time we were there, it was the highlight of our trip.

There are more interesting places around Unawatuna. You can do a village tour to Dodandoowa, Whale watching tour, Hiyare rainforest, Turtle hatchery, Galle Dutch Fort etc..
